Regionals near Texas or Vermont?
Regionals near Texas or Vermont?
I am somewhat new to Burning Man. I have done a bit of research on it, and I was wondering if there are any people in this forum that have been to a regional Burning Man near Vermont or Texas. How are the regionals different from and similar to the original Burning Man? Is a "decompression" a regional Burning Man? Also, what types of theme camps have there been in the past? Please email me at [email protected] with any information! Thanks!

I've been to Flipside.
in Austin.
Texas.
It was fucking great. Tickets are limited to 1000 due to restrictions on the land where they hold the event.
I don't like Texas. I do like Austin though. It's akin to a pearl being surrounded by swine.
Flipside was the third most outrageous thing I did this year. BM was first.

Bread & Puppet
Does Vermont still have the Bread & Puppet Festival? I've got a lot of Vermonter friends who used to go when they lived there. The descriptions sounded a lot like Burning Man.

Bread and Puppet is dead
Sorry to say that Bread and Puppet stopped a couple of years ago. I went in '92 or '93 and it was like being in Dante's Inferno. The reason why it stopped was because the camping area was completely unregulated (indeed it wasn't event on their property!) and it got really ugly, climaxing in the deaths of a few people, at the hands of a few other people. That is what you get with complete anarchy. By the way I used to live in VT and plan to move back at some point, even though I am the BM Regional Contact for Hawaii.

Vermont?
I'm in Western Mass, about a half hour south of Vermont. But no contacts with any regional type stuff or anything. Sorry.
