I am a canadian choreographer and am hoping to organise a large scale dance performance at the 2006 gathering. The work is called "a small piece of sky" and is inspired by people who have been unjustly incarcerated in asylums. It is a sad and haunting piece that also emits a feeling of hope.
It has 3 sections which can be performed in the order of your choice (chance method) and is done wearing blindfolds. One foot is anchored in place and the movements rotate around your base.
I will be putting up a description on each section with pictures of what the movements look like on the internet so that interested participants can learn the movements at home on their own before the event. The movements are done very slowly and anyone can participate. This is just a note to put out the info and to see if people would be interested in participating in the dance.
I will also be looking for musicians - flute players specifically - to create the sound for the performance. The original music that was used for this piece is solo for flute by Dead Can Dance
Drop me a note if this sounds like something you want to be involved in.
