Howdy Burners,

I thought it would be fun to come up with a list of things we forgot to bring this year - there's always something no matter how many times I've been. This year I forgot my damn LOTION!!!! Duh!

What did you kids forget to bring?

Our tent trailer broke down as we were leaving town.

When we hurridly unpacked everything into the back of our truck we forgot to upack the little fridge inside.

So we forgot breakfast.

ALL our breakfasts.

Ive got EVERYBODY beat !

Every year I forget some CORE item. Not the little stuff. Ive got LOADS of the little stuff.
Its the base fundamental stuff I fade on. 1 item every year.
Year 1) Propane for the stove.
Year 2) Those large square batteries for the lights (ALL the lanterns)
Year 3) Jacket (of any kind)
Year 4) Chairs (of any kind)
And this years topper........ ?

Driving north up 395, I happen to glance on the shoulder of the road going by, a torn to shreds sleeping bag someone had obviously lost.
I think to myself "Heh, those poor bastards are gonna be bummin when they ..................
AHHHH SHIT !!! "

Another $90 bucks down the tubes as I stop in Bishop to buy one rather large and warm sleeping bag to keep the one sitting at home in my closet company till next year.

Forgot:

My vows. (Well the notes I had written up. Came up with something while I was getting dressed for the ceremony.)

The veil headband. (Used the cording from someone's CA Rangers hat to keep the veil on.)

Guestbook. (Was packed away with the dinner for the evening. I forgot about it and no one noticed it while putting the food out on platters.)

Toenail clippers. (Stubbed my big toe just an hour before finally finding some that I could borrow. Ow.)

Though it all worked out fine in the end and we were happy with the evening.

Gloves, i put it aside so i would remember it, and whadya know
cups and bowls, thank god we remember to bring 4 coffee cups for our coffee the day we left, we used those for soup and everything the whole time.
dry ice, meat went bad quickly, and had maggots all over it when we got home

Frozen meat, which I was able to replace In Lovelock--no biggie.

BUT! I also forgot the silky lounging robe I was counting on to make my Hef ensemble AND the collection of Questionable Vests. Hadda wear the same coupla t-shirts/tank tops all friggin' week. I sincerely lament the loss of opportunity to swank around in my vests!

I forgot my sword and didn't want to go back for it. Also a rake handle and dowel but had all the other hardware to turn them into fire staffs. Had a terrible dream that I got to the playa without poi - maybe it was just a reminder to pack them first.

Shovel. Those 12" metal tent stakes (you know, the ones that bend and break as you hammer them in) added about 2 hours to our camp breakdown.

Backups for pretty much everything. The only backups I didn't forget was for the goldurn contact lenses. My Camelbak failed on me and I had to drink out of a gallon jug slung off my shoulder with a sarong all week, my shades' left stem broke and I forgot a backup; my bottle pump failed and guess what? No backup!

The drain valve for my handcrank washing machine...

i didnt forget, but packed overly lightly so my precious ride could bring his goddam generator, his individualy bottled water, and all the packaging he should have removed (OR NOT BOUGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE) I found another ride home, because they had to leave ("no one really stays for the clean up") I have never been more turned on by the phrase "leave no trace" in my life. I helped clean up the rather large theme camp I was in and it was one of my favorite experiences.

In 2001 I remembered what the playa did to my feet the previous year, so I came equipped with shoes and some good foot balm ... but forgot SOCKS! One of my campmates gave me a pair, which I wore for the rest of the week. They were thrashed by the end of the week, but at least I wasn't stalking around on bloody stumps like I would have been!
