Alex & Allyson Grey on Viking Youth Power Hour

Post by vikingyouth » Thu Jul 20, 2006 8:04 am

www.vikingyouth.com

Tip toe through the tryptamine tulips with the Vikings this week as they spend some time with visionary artists Alex and Allyson Grey.

Alex and Allyson were in Chicago a few weeks ago to help raise money for the village that will be the playa-home to Alex's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, Entheon Village. We discuss the origin of the village's name and the different events it will host including another installation in the always enjoyable Palenque Norte talks that in years past has featured speakers such as Erik Davis, Daniel Pinchbeck, Alex, John Hanna and many more. One of the more notable speakers this year will be Sasha Shulgin.

Alex and Allyson share their experiences at the party, talk about why they are involved in Burning Man and the implications they see developing from the community. They also talk about the very unique and inspiring relationship the two of them share, how they met, and how their art continues to co-create symbiotically between the two of them.

Pick your face up off the floor friends, your about to have your pretty little mind blown. Music at the end created by Every Drum a Star.

Another precious group of hipsters too lazy to pay their own way who think that their gift is so wonderful that total strangers should fund it sight unseen.

WOW! An embroidered back patch for only a $200 donation? Where the fuck do I sign?

Exactly what 'amazing achievement' are you referring to, huh? You mean separating people from their $200? Fuck yeah, I'd be celebrating that 'achievement' too if some dumb mofo handed me $200 so I could get drunk out in the desert.

Still, I say go for it, Viking dudes.

Some people have money to give, and all you have to do is ask. So don't be offended.
And Alex is not A superstar. He's MY superstar. And has been since the 90's. I could give a crap about stars. But this guy ... he's blessed.
Has anyone seen World Spirit?

When you say "he's blessed", I hope to dog you're not referring to his work ethic. Or perhaps you were referring to his 'radical self-reliance'? Either way, if someone thinks that's a good use of their $200, then dog bless 'em, I say.

D'you think Alex would let me blow him, if I gave him some money?

Tell ya what, you give me 200 bucks and you can blow him yourself. You won't find a better deal than that on ePlaya, fer damn sure.

Sweet cripsy christ, you have got to be kidding me. You want me to pay to hear you yak about nothing??

Oh please... Go out and DO something other than encourage people to sit on their asses.

Your open yap is not art...

I'll give credit where credit is due though. The veggi oil bus is kinda cool. I'll be really impressed when you convert it to solar/hydrogen powered. :)

See? I'm not all piss and vemon... ;)
Arrrggg!! Avast ye fucking fluffy bunny shirtcockers! Haul your drunken hairy fat ass out of our sight or prepare to receive a hot buttered hedgehog fired up your aft quarters!

So look... it's not the "Entheon Village" that I'm excited about, who Alex is HELPING get the money for. It's the Chaple of Mirrors WITHIN the village. I'm pretty sure that you guys don't know much about Alex... OR the Chaple of Mirrors. Or I would be chatting with people who are very excited for this.
Maybe google the shit of something, I don't know. But stop faREAKn out over the ASKED donations.
jeez
And yes... Alex's words is an art.
He - is art.

I just spent the past 30 minutes looking at links, Googling, and getting the background on CoSM and I am underwhelmed to put it nicely. I see this as nothing more than camouflaged prosetylizing to get money for a bunch of new age mumbo jumbo pile of monkey crap pseudo artistry mixed with religion and false prophetry that is devoid of any value to humankind, period. Thankfully the playa is a vast place...and now I have something else to add to my list of annoyances best avoided.

I'm with you Virgin- I am extremeley excited for Alex's arrival on the playa. His art has inspired me in many many ways. The mean-spiritedness on this post is really unfortunate. Hopefully the underwhelmed folks will be able to personally view the CoSM and re-evaluate their thinking--if not--then there is certainly something for everyone on the playa.

All I gotta do is hop on I-70 and head out to Wilson, KS for their Testicle Festival to get an official blessing.

Perhaps this is not an appropriate venue for sensitive types.

Will the Testicle Festival (damn, that has a nice ring to it...!?) be sensitivity oriented?

MAPS will assist Rangers, the originators of Sanctuary, by staffing it with psychedelic therapists and volunteer trainees to transform the pain of a Burner's difficult psychedelic experience into a learning opportunity. Twenty-four hours a day, MAPS representatives, mental health professionals and trainees, will serve those in psychedelic emergencies. Sanctuary will remain in a central location near Ranger headquarters, outside of camp ENTHEON.

I'll see you there along with all the other people who appreciate him.

This is just all very odd to me, cause every single person I've met who knows of Alex, feels like I do about him... And if they don't know him, they look him up and then they too feel the same way. How do you NOT like him??

I think the negitivity is coming from the "donation" request - or something... maybe they were locked in a cage as a child and hate the world. :?

Well if anyone wants to share there excitement for this... just pm me. We can talk about how big he gets our goose bumps.

Yeah, it's about that donation request. That started it.
The search engine work finished it up.

what k said, the superstar status thing, and well.. people are just burned out about some things (pun intended).

personally i like alex and and the atmosphere he creates when answering questions - i just dont like how others put him on a pedastal without involving themselves in the discussion because it becomes a show, a passive form of entertainment for people to just comsume an ego. even though the camp is all about community and interaction, you dont really know that from a flyer or fundraiser.

entheon has a great history and i think grey's hall of mirrors is a good fit for the event. but thats just my limited voice in an ocean of others.
