4:30 Spoke Party - Thursday Night

We've been chatting over on Tribe about a 4:30 Block Party. Perhaps you've gotten wind of it? I don't see any threads here on ePlaya for a block party, so I'm throwing this out there....

In the spirit of pulling this thing 'together' and get some focus on a fantabulous 4:30 Spoke Party... perhaps we can start with a shared vision. Granted, this vision is open for interpretation, input and revision, but on the playa, I tend to like things as low maintenance as possible, and try to avoid over coordinating things, it just gets messy and unrealistic. I find it's best to simply get everyone on the same page, headed in the same direction, and then everybody puts their own creative spin on their contribution to the big picture.

The Vision:

An evening where the 4:30 Block is bursting at the seams with activity. Where people walking along the Esplanade look down the spoke and say... "Wow! Let's go this way!" Where art cars cuise the playa with 4:30 as a destination for the evening. Where fire performers will head, knowing they'll find welcoming camps, driving music, and appreciative audiences, and an open Plaza waiting for them at the end of the street, beckoning for their flames. Where people are dancing in the streets and the sounds of revelry emanating from the 4:30 spoke rival that of Esplanade. Where all the neighbors spend a night in the hood, bouncing amongst themselves, meeting and greeting... celebrating that which we have created, together.

Now... to make it a reality.

First, we need to pick a night. Unless there are any major objections... we're going with Thursday night. Why? Because a lot of camps along 4:30 already have big events planned for that night and it seems only logical to jump on that bandwagon. Does this mean that if you don't have an event planned, that you're not part of the block party? Nooooooo... don't be silly! Of course you are! It's your hood! Come out and play with us, dance with us, spin with us, drink and be merry with us! It's the best night of all to mingle with the neighbors... so get your warm booty shakin down the street!

Second, we need participation. We have a Tribe set up for the Block Party, if you choose to join it http://tribes.tribe.net/430spoke. Please forward the link to this thread or the tribe to anyone you know who lives on the 4:30 spoke. And if you don't live on 4:30 exactly, but you're close to the spoke somewhere between 4:00 and 5:00... well then, it's your hood too! Jump on board the party train baby! Choo choo!

Third, we need a list of events. So give us a short blurb about what event your camp has planned for Thursday night. If it's not a special event that's totally cool... give us a blurb on what visitors to your camp will encounter on Thursday night when they cruise on through. A place to chill, a nice cold drink, some groovin vibes perhaps? Just let us know. Finally, we need publicity. So, after we get our list of events and 'places to be' for Thursday night, I'll compile it into an official announcement that will make the 4:30 Spoke Party a 'must do' on everybody's Playa list. We'll post it everywhere and anywhere... and word will spread of the joy and merriment that awaits them when they come visit the best spoke on the playa!

So gang... do we share this vision? Are we all headed in the same direction? Are your creative juices flowin and are you ready for THE BEST FUCKING BURN EVER!!!!!!!!! Huh? Are you? I can't hear you??????
