Whoo doggy, I know how that goes.
Howdy Kooshi, have you dropped into panic mode yet? I sure am. Only 2 more w/e left! Geep!
I have a nifty bm prep story. Today I set up my tent. It was in a milkcrate that had sat next to my tent door all week last year, and was basically a catch-all for the what-nots that I didn't want to throw away, but didn't immediately need. I had dumped my tent in there at the end of the week, and I haven't touched it since, except to move it. Well today I decided to rinse off my tent, so I took it out of the box, and there was a veritable treasure trove underneath including assorted schwag, a bag of sunscreen and an unopened beer.

Yay for undiscovered beer! I don't even drink the stuff and I can appreciate that!
I can't go shopping until hubby's paycheck posts on the 15th, so there's no real point in me panicking before then. Yesterday I went down to the garage, opened all of the stuff I hadn't touched since I came home last year
and found myself in far better shape than I expected to be. Hell, there's an entire bin full of tuna-salad packs that don't expire until next March! (I think I may wind up trying to swap those with folks for other stuff; as I recall, I wasn't overly impressed with the way these tasted, compared to the ones I had two years prior.) Moved some of my decorations from the bike that didn't work out to the bike I wanted to bring last year and didn't have room for; discovered that there's a spider eggsac in the chain.
I'll take the bike to Faber's and have the chain re-lubed (and yes, I'll ask about "dry lubricant" while I'm there) after the check posts.
Today, my hat went in the wash. I hadn't done that since the ex bought it for my birthday three years ago - bad Koosh. I probably should've thrown a cup of vinegar in the wash water for good measure, but what the hell - the hat's playa-colored anyway. Once I let it air dry, I sewed my DMV patch back on the front and put all the buttons back on. So now it looks like my hat again.

Anything purple is mine. Anything else can be dyed or painted.

They say DMV rather than Rangers, but yeah. (Well, the rest of 'em do, anyway. I wear a friggin' Size 8 hat, so none of those ever fit me. I've got one of these on the front of my hat; it gets the message across.)robbidobbs wrote:Do you wear the canvas "ranger" hats at DMV still?

Nice.
Here's another nifty BM prep story. I got a call from this local older gentleman that has been wanting to go for years, and finally has someone who can take care of his ranch while he's away. He asked me the basic questions, like what to bring. I said read the survival guide, and gave him the website. He then asked what to bring to give away, and I said BEER. He asked if bringing his horses would be appreciated, and I talked him out of that, but by all means bring his art. He's a taxidermist and will be bringing his coyote. He's also slaying a steer, and will bring jerky. Yay.
