If we're going to recommend British Isles, the go to Iona. Not that I've ever been there, but my sister took her family in honor of her daughter, Iona.

Good Good Stuff.
Thanks for the great advice and pointers.
...it`s nice to know about postage.
One of my challenges is going to be either storing or shipping a large
piece of luggage that I will bring to Zurich that is packed with business
attire and things I won`t need for the vacation part of my voyage.
...with the terrorist paranoia, I doubt if I`ll be able to find a locker in or near the airport or trainstation, so I`m thinking about boxing it up and shipping it home before we leave Zurich....or maybe before I leave Austria...

Getting around in Paris is a snap on the Metro system - if you are only there for a few days, get a book of tickets instead of the metro pass to save $. We were there in January and I was glad for the passport and $ stash bag that I bought for around my kneck - I had my coat pockets swept twice (that I could feel). Don't walk around in Montmartre or Pigale districts alone - especially after dark.
If you're into the old churches, a climb to the top of Sacre Coeur, which is free, is better than the view from the top of Notre Dame. My very favorite is Saint Sulpice which gives you the whole experience without the crowds of tourists in Notre Dame. (Read Da Vinci Code for some spice)
Paris Museums - we liked the d'Orsay more than the Louvre.
Have a great time!
