Now that I've read over the posts of the last few days, I was glad to see that I wasn't as offensive as some have vilified me here, rather, that there are some on this board who are just argumentative, and will pat themselves on the back for attacking people who say something that even sounds like something they don't approve of. Or even has words in it that sound like things they disapprove of.
So you see, I do consider feedback, but I have decided that those argumentative fuckwits have their heads firmly lodged up their asses.

Please count this post as my vote for more signal and less noise in posts in general. That is all. Thank you.

AFFG: Honestly, I think you've come off as kind of racist in this forum as well. I'm not saying that you're a racist--in general, I think the way a person comes off on a computer forum is not the best measure of their actual character. But some of your posts here have been offensive, and I'm glad Don called you on them.
Your reaction to any such criticism has seemed to be that nobody else gets your sense of humor, or is a knee-jerk liberal, etc. I suggest you re-read your posts, and try to keep in mind that other people on this forum don't know you personally.
For example: "And anyways, if your freakin culture is so great, then what're you doing here?"
Now, if you meant this jab at Mexican immigrants as a joke, then frankly, your comedy blows. If not, the implication is clear. Either the "freakin" culture of the Mexican people is not so great (a racist statement), or Mexicans shouldn't be coming to America (racist and anti-immigrant).
So, maybe you can explain the joke, because I, for one, don't get it.

It's not that I hate you. It's just that I'm a much better person than you.
I know it's gonna sound like a simple statment. For example: "And anyways, if your freakin culture is so great, then what're you doing here?"

It all goes back to the Indians. I guess they can say ""And anyways, if your freakin culture is so great, then what're you doing here?" .......well mabey not all the indians. The Shinicocks really should be the ones to say it. wait a minute....they did. I guess you'll never know about it huh?
This country is a mess and will be a mess for quite awhile.
(sorry if this makes some heads explode because it requires some serious thinking.)

*hint* you are all on thier land. The other Indians were'nt the ones feared.
You wont find very much info about them unless your a scholar which none exsist in this forum..

Offensive how? I keep asking for cites, and you all just want to keep piling on, without having to defend your own muddy thinking. If it's so goddamned offensive, then it should be pretty easy to illustrate just how admitting I just realized someone might be hispanic is racist. In my mind, it's no more offensive than saying I thought someone on this board was a guy when they were really a girl or vice versa. I'll wait for you geniuses to illuminate exactly how simply stating someone might be hispanic is racist or offensive.Patience wrote:AFFG: Honestly, I think you've come off as kind of racist in this forum as well. As for the hispanichicatino crack, I'll grant it's not the funniest thing I've ever posted, but if someone made a crack about my swedish/hawaiian/italian/irish/dutch lineage, I'd doubt I'd have popped a gasket and started foaming at the mouth like others have. In short, sticks and stones. Grow up.
Well duh, I already did when I explained that this was referring to the fact that these very immigrants have voted with their feet that our culture has produced a environment where there's a lot more opportunity than theirs has, so I'm not gonna spell it out for you any more than that. So you didn't like my sarcasm huh? Aww, poor babies.Patience wrote:For example: "And anyways, if your freakin culture is so great, then what're you doing here?"

Hey, I'm just a man, sometimes I fall short of even my hopes and expectations- the name helps me to remember to try to be the best me I can be tho.Isotopia wrote:Other times I hear 'A Farce for Good.'
Nailed me exactly how? I don't know what else I can explain... And quite frankly, I don't feel like it's worth it. Nothing personal against you, it's just the general lack of quality posts around this place lately, the takeover by twit noobs have driven me to the point where I feel like a good old fashioned flame war (maybe there was a reason the OH's did that, eh?) or just leaving. And leaving is more efficient.Isotopia wrote:Most times I'm just fucking confused.

Beyond your most recent anti-hispanic crap, what did you mean when you said these things?aforceforgood wrote:Offensive how? I keep asking for cites, and you all just want to keep piling on, without having to defend your own muddy thinking.

Of course that's not the only reason, but it's still interesting... irritation is as mighty a force as peer pressure... or frustration.
Maybe this could all be solved if we invited the middle east to a kegger and got them laid. Their sexual frustration seems to have driven them completely fucking insane... Any volunteers? To spread for a bunch of stinky, mysoginist assholes? In the name of peace?

There are far too many of your posts that are racist to link to here, but anybody who reads the idle chat thread from post 665 to 800 or so will see that you are very consistently racist. Of course, you were just 'joking' about those things too.
It's all there out in the open, but anybody who wants to learn about you will have to read through a ton of shrill but empty ego-defense, illogical ad-hominem and straw man fallacies, and sloppy thinking.
Until I actually looked into the history of your postings I was willing to extend you the benefit of the doubt. Now I can't come to any conclusion other than you are a racist.

Lest folks get too high up on their PC horses here, let's talk about bigotry, which I see racism as a subset of. Here's M-W's online def for bigot:
Fact is, we all have some knee-jerk aspects to our points of view, most have mostly conditioned, derivative opinions, as opposed to conclusions they worked to arrive at. It's something anyone who wants to really be a 'thinker' must keep in mind.
I already nailed Kelly and Chimp as a bigots of one type, in that they are impervious to reason where their political opposition is concerned. Religious fundamentalists, as are found all over the world in all religions, also fit the definition. People that reflexively bash Schwarzeneggar on the shaky grounds they have for doing it come perilously close to that definition.a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices

Here is another dictionary definition of bigot
"One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ."
This is the common usage of the word for better or worse. It seems to me that affg is both types.
The rest of your points are well taken though. Just in case that Arnold thing was directed my way, I would like to point out that I never bashed Arnold. I merely said it was appropriate to question the disconnect between his self-label of environmentalist and his fleet of Hummers. I also find his nascent political profile disturbing but hopefully not predictive.

Well, if you looked a little farther on in that thread, you'd have seen that I apologized for those comments later, and admitted that they were racist, with the mea culpa that I was *totally* drunk when I said them. But maybe you did read farther on in that thread, and you're one of those bulletin board nerds who considers it more important to *win* an argument than it is to have a frank and open discussion, and thus decided to omit those posts.
In short, yeah, those comments were racist. But you still haven't shown how saying I just realized someone might be hispanic is. You've shown a pattern of shifting off to other arguments when someone tries to pin you down to the weak points of yours.
So what will it be? Will you sling more mud at me, or will you try and communicate with someone who obviously does consider feedback and grow and change because of it? Just saying something is racist doesn't cut it here, you have to be able to back up your argument.

Absolutely not. Kudos to you if you acknowledged those comments as racist and apologized for them. I am not the type of 'board nerd' who can actually stomach reading *all* the posts you filled defending those statements (must have been one hell of a drinking binge), I limited myself to sampling about twenty with many, many more left unread. Whereabouts can I find the apology?aforceforgood wrote:Well, if you looked a little farther on in that thread, you'd have seen that I apologized for those comments later, and admitted that they were racist, with the mea culpa that I was *totally* drunk when I said them. The way I see it, this argument was put to bed a couple of days ago, but YOU brought it back to life. Now you asked for cites and I gave you some to augment those already given and explained.
Much more importantly, it seems that you have a history of making offensive statements 'off-the-cuff' that get you in hot water and cause you to spend a lot of time defending said statements. If you truly consider feedback, I would suggest that you try to be more sensitive to issues of race and culture before you make one of your 'jokes.'

Well, I've had issues with AFFG's approach and content myself. Based on the text we see, I agree that he fits the definition.Don Muerto wrote:Here is another dictionary definition of bigot

To me, Schwarzenegger only has two relevant pieces of info to go on 1) that he's a moderate in the GOP, and Dog knows they need 'em and 2) Dick Riordan counts him as friend. The rest is hearsay and oddity in general, in a state that nearly defines odd in the social sense.

As dyed-in-the-wool Left as I am, had it come down to just Riordan vs. Davis I would have voted for Riordan. With Camejo in the race it would've been academic though.TestesInSac wrote:To me, Schwarzenegger only has two relevant pieces of info to go on 1) that he's a moderate in the GOP, and Dog knows they need 'em and 2) Dick Riordan counts him as friend. You didn't say "I think you might be Hispanic". You said:aforceforgood wrote:You still haven't pointed out what is so offensive about saying someone might be hispanic.
If you can't see something offensive in there, you just don't get it.Well, actually, that question was directed at Don Muerto, since he's kindly adopted the devil's advocate position in this little debate- (or maybe, duh, I just realized that Don Muerto could be hispanic or latino or whatever the fock the PC term is today, maybe Don is hisplachicatino) and just to head off the "Well, forcing them to learn english is destroying the mexican culture!" argument before that shit even gets started, I wanna say this before I forget it;
If your culture is so weak that learning english can kill it, then it deserves to die.
And anyways, if your freakin culture is so great, then what're you doing here? Yeah, yeah, I know, economics, and you know, I like a lot about latino culture, their strong family ties, passion, etc., but I think you see my point.

It's all those illegals at Burning Man, is what sticks in my craw -- parking their flying saucers right on top of the trash fence -- waltzing into the Cafe expecting knarnak hexadecimal change from a 100000000 zvotl binary note -- demanding that JOTS empty their centrifuge bags and take their spent fuel rods to boot -- and then they have the nerve to complain about astrobiological speciesist imagery -- well, sorry, bud, we thought all of you looked like jaundiced Walter Keane kids -- and kindly remove that pseudopod from my girlfriend's tit or I'll blast it back to Aldebaran.

And I've explained what I was trying to communicate to you humorless rabid political correctness knee-jerk liberals, so I think the classic phrase "fuck em if they can't take a joke" works nicely here.
Have fun patting yourself on the back for being so morally superior to me while failing to define in ANY way what in particular about my comment was offensive.
You can righteously say it wasn't funny, I'm not arguing that it's hilarious. What you can't just keep doing is saying it's offensive just because, or just because it is, or just because you say it is.
Well, not without plopping yourself squarely in the category of a little girl stamping her foot and just whining and complaining and demanding that it's not fair just because you don't like it and you want to get your way, anyway.
