Bill Graham's Music Stuff

Post by gyre » Wed Aug 09, 2006 4:58 pm

Has anybody checked the collection of his that's being dug out of a warehouse in San Francisco?
It's on wolfgangsvault.com.

I know. I know. It's a commercial site.
It's also the biggest freaking museum of music stuff I've ever heard of.

I salute Bill Graham for saving so much art and music.

I can't believe that, living in the Bayarrhea, this is the first I've heard of that site. THANK YOU for posting the link!

How many times do you think you walked right by that warehouse?

I tiled Bill's Gym a few month before he died. The pilot was his friend and had the nickname of 'killer', I kid you not.

I remember that...I bought Bill Graham Presents shortly after it was published and have read it several times since then. (For my most recent re-read, I followed it with a reading of Phil Lesh's Searching for the Sound; it was highly enjoyable to watch their POVs dovetail on various events both were involved in.)

Bill was a slob, always wearing the same sweatpants/shirt day after day..looking groggy too. But, he was friendly with the workers, liked our music choices. I wonder if the new owner tore down the gym? That would be too bad. I think they did tear down Bill's house and build something new there, but the gym was detached......weird sometimes how things go. I've seen that a bunch of times in my career already. Glad they saved all that old stuff. Killer's wife was pretty, we all felt real sad for her..
