No because Israel is so extremely useful to Iran. It provides an “enemy” focal point to blame all that's wrong in there world. It keeps the moderates silent, and amalgamates the various factions in the Arab world and allows Iran to project power and sell fundamentalism around the world.

Israel with it’s predictable over response, ( not unlike the US ) is a tool of Islamic fundamentalism.

The main push of Iran is to spread Islamic fundamentalism. They won't nuke Jerusalem because it's a holy city to muslims. If they nuke Tel Aviv, then Tehran will be off the map in minutes.
They don't have a great delivery system for nuke weapons. They can't reach very far, Israel can.
Israel has, I believe, the 6th largest nuckular arsenal. The Iranians know that they can't spread the message of Islam if you're glowing like a firefly.
The ignorant islamists are suicidal but the leaders aren't as stupid.

Iran wants nukes so that others will ralley around them. They want to be the "heavy" in the neighborhood. Most of all , they want nukes to deter the U.S. from attacking. It works for Pakistan.

Israel was in lebanon for 18 years to establish a buffer. It never brought them the results that they hoped for. Without a missle shield or buffer, they don't have a very secure future.
Israel is fighting a proxy war with Iran for the U.S. Syria is a knight. Lebanon just happens to be the unlucky battleground. It won't play out with nukes.
The belligerent Persians and Arabs have always planned to use hordes of the faithful to push Israel into the sea.
Iran had a million casualities fighting Iraqui islamists. They'll put even more effort into fighting Israel.
The revolutionary guard are in it for the long haul. They're building weapons with the money from American gas pumps.

If they put a U.N. farce,/.'p;[/; I mean force in Lebanon, that might bring peace until Iran develops a better delivery system for their weapons[a la North Korea]
The immediate future for Israel is to be a U.S. supported garrison.
The other problem is that under our Uberpadre, the U.S. is running out of money. If Iran can convince Somalia to stop selling us oil,,,along with an Iranian cutoff, that would bring our economy to a screeching halt. A hungry garrison,

I'm sure that Iranians would swallow a financial hit a lot sooner than approve a nookular strike They would really love to see us down on our knees.

If they nuke Israel, they'll give us an excuse to use weapons that would make thermonuclear weapons look tame.
No nukes.
I'm afraid that the Lebanese, Syrians, Israelis and other Semitic people in the area are fucked,,,,by the Persians.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

If they have it, and they use it on Israel, how will it affect you personally? Will the fallout get as far as where you are? Will you lose your job or your trust fund? Will you get drafted to go fight and clean up what is left?

Someone set us up the bomb.

My Spidey-sense tells me not to bet on it. Remember, in those countries men are NOT taught self-restraint, that's why they have to keep the women under wraps. Keep also in mind that both sides, Israel and Dar-es-Islam both think about the other, "I'm right, you suck."

Think back to the Cold War. There was a lot of out-calling but did either side specifically say in so many words that they wanted to wipe the other side off the face of the planet? Sure, we said we wanted to stop the spread of Communism but we never said "We're going to kill you all!" to the USSR and they didn't say that back at us either. The worst that was ever said was, "You just try it, watch what happens."

On the balance, though, I don't think Iran wants to live in nuclear fallout which would definitely happen if there was an exchange. It would be like Texas nuking California.

Personally I don't like the fact that nuclear anything exists because, like gang members getting guns by stealing from lawful gun owners, terrorists can get the materials to make dirty bombs from anyone who has nuclear capability. Unfortunately, the cat's out of the bag and it won't go back in, so the best you can do is keep a short rein on it and don't let it proliferate. As for Iran saying that they're developing it for peaceful energy reasons...to that, I say "Bullshit." They can go solar.

We don't need no stinkin fallout  After all the hundreds of above-ground tests, a couple more wouldn't make much difference. Hiroshima was about 10 kilos of U-238. Bush baby has used something like 260 TONS of depleted uranium in Iraq. A lot of it was vaporised and is now in the biosphere.

They are seeing a huge increase in deformed babies.

The Russians have scuttled nuke submarines in a bay that now glows blue,,,so I hear.
The re-entry of the plutonium reactor in Spacelab? vaporised 57 lbs of plutonium into the atmosphere,,,if I remember correctly.
Don't forget the Santa Susana meltdown along with Chernobyl.

Our background radiation has increased considerably. Gov isn't particularly worried. Same with heat polution.
As long as the problem doesn't come home to roost before election time
Unless it can be blamed on the opposing party.

Say 2 nukes from Iran and a response of 20 from Israel. Russia won't mind. They did a 67 megaton test above ground. The U.S. did Nevada and Bikini. A couple more won't make a difference.
France and China can't bitch. They tested.

Unlike 30-40 years ago, a limited nuke exchange isn't viewed as totally out of the question......by politicians and generals, not potential victims.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Israel use a nuetron bomb if they really get pushed into a corner.

The next logical question to ask is if Teheran fires a nuke at Tel Aviv, how many minutes will the world have to wait before Teheran is annihiliated?

As for the suggestion of Israel using a neutron bomb, that kind of device is not as "clean" as urban legends make it out to be. A little digging around online will bring up discussions on why military commanders are reluctant to use neutron devices.

By the way in regards to the 67 Megaton Tsar Bomba test...it wasn't at full strength. And thankfully it wasn't, that damn thing was nasty. And the Russian leadership was too fucking scared to detontate it at full strength. Here's a link to learn more about it...Wikipedia also has some stuff on it.

Kinetic, that is really good info. Hopefully, as more of the old war dogs die off, there will be less strife. If you saw "Enemy at the Gates", you'll understand how people like Khrushchev got the mentality that they have.

I have it on good authority that the later Nevada tests were clean. I was told that they could re-enter the underground chamber after 24 hours.

Iran can only build a basic bomb. If you remember 'Fat Man" and "Little Boy" , they were really heavy. A fission device is nothing more than 2 hemispheres of U-238 the size of a cantaloupe.
I don't believe that Iran has the sophistication to build anything compact.
I don't believe they have a delivery system that could launch a large device.
As I recall, Iraq sent 23 heavy bombers to Iran at the start of the first war. They didn't want us to blow them up. Even if Iran still has them, they couldn't very well sneak up on Israel.
They would probably have to put it in a boat and blow it up in Haifa or Tel Aviv. That plan worked for the USS Cole.
This is all speculation. I don't wish any evil on either side.
I do wish a speedy trip straight to hell for all the religious fundamentalists zealots,, be they jew, islamist , baptist or whatever.
Mainstream religion is a greedy, bloodthirsty vehicle that incidentally teaches morals and values. There are far better ways to teach morals and values to our children that don't include exclusion and death to "OTHERS"
The crimes commited in the name of religion are beyond all pardon.
We cry now about the deaths of children.
I stood on the beach in Turkey where many thousands of children were deposited to fight the "Crusades". All dead or enslaved shortly.
The Children's Crusade was just a ploy to round up the poor children and dump them off far away,,,,done in the name of religion.
Give me the pagans who worship the godess of mother earth.

Iran use a nuke? - Absolutely.

If Tel Aviv or Jerusalem were hit Teheran would be vaporized in 30 minutes.
Israel already tried to bomb Cairo. A lucky SAM shot stopped an enroute, nuclear armed jet bound for Cairo. That was the basis for the movie with Ben Afleck or however you spell his name.

I've worked with the IDF and know they will hold nothing back to preserve their sliver of existence.

my two cents - be safe see you all in 3 weeks.

The responses in this thread somewhat disappoint me.
Especially since most of what I am reading here is embarrassing to me, those who posted their responses and those Burners that are from the area to which this thread refers to.

there is so much misunderstanding and misinformation blasted by the Jewish/American and British media that I feel there really is no hope for this world and Burningman.

I'll see if I can convince my burner friends from Palestine and Lebanon to start posting here so that there may be a chance that there may be the diversity of once was in Burningman.

They most likely will not post nor will they go to Burningman again but it's really sad. Lebanon has some of the most Finest people....( I mean this in both intelligent fun and mostly sexual way. Male and Female.) on the planet there. They also have the most class. The Jewish/American, British media has done an excellent job at portraying all of the Middle East as "terrorists", but Lebanon? It's a beautiful place. Or WAS. Gorgeous looking and being people.
They have been amongst many of you Burners though many of you may have not been aware.

You folks need the facts of the other side. I just dont have the time I used to to post on eplaya...............

Anyhoo, just my 0000.001%.

DVD, you specificaly asked about Iran. I replied about Iran. I have no quarrel nor acquaintance with Lebanon. I know several Lebanese here.
They are much like the people I met while traveling in Syria and Jordan.
They have a tradition of hospitality,,, unlike their much younger neighbor.

I drank many cups of mint tea?
I also visited a Palestinian refugee camp. The people there were just trying to cope and survive. I spent a couple weeks in Jerusalem. The projected arrogance was often palpable.

I made the trip because of the all to well known slant to the news. If you do a search on intifada + atrocities you get about 346,000. Coverage in L.A.,,,,just about 0
Israel recently invaded because of 2 kidnapped soldiers. Was there any mention of <1100> of the oposition held in Israeli prisions?

The Arab anti defamation league office in North Hollywood was firebombed 2 weeks after it opened. The dissemination of news that reflects badly on Israel can't be allowed.

The Bell Curve paints the Jews as being smarter than the Anglos. How then could they create such an unnatural , anomalous state?
No small state can survive when it is hemmed in on all sides by belligerents that it antagonizes?

If Israel can arrange an "incident" and convince U.S. to attack Iran, it will only be a postponement.
I saw a disparraging comment somewhere about the poor dirty Palestinians.
If the Israelis hadn't received hundreds of billions from U.S. they would be dirt poor too.
I read that a few of the Israeli settlements shared the largess from America with Palestinians. They shared their water-treatment and sewage facilities.
That kind of action and mentality is the only thing that might insure a future for Israel.
When will Israel learn,,,when they take everything from a people, those people have nothing to lose.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

Maybe the trigger will be the "Dome of the Rock!"

there are radical jews that want to destroy the Dome to rebuild Davids "Temple" on the mound.

And as you know how evil and ignorant the religously radical jews can be about their mythology and from I have heard from jewish friends this action is highly plausable. I would believe that if not all jews but most support it.

It is the one thing that they do not have. They have the state of Israel. They have all of Jerusalem. But they do not have the Temple only access to the west wall. It is a reminder that they acknowledge to everyday.

AND IF IT DOES HAPPEN- of which I believe will happen someday under the *right* regime?

I would presume a war would result and if the Islamic forces were to lose, then a bomb could be launched from some Islamic nation under the control of the *right* regime. That could even be Pakistan

Think about it!

and now my two shekels.

If the situation in Iran degrades into a near civil war, then the israelis WILL strike the reactor, as it will be an ideal time to do so in the eyes of the IDF and Israeli Leadership.

this is why the Americans have been so cautious.

It is actually ideal for all involved for this election to be decided, in favor of the current regime, and then a peaceful, opposition party can come into being with a growing strength of purpose and legitimacy, and eventually, thru the democratic process, EVOLVE the state of politics in Iran towards a more western tolerant, two-state accepting regional powerhouse that we can work with.

we do not need a third front right now, our forces are stretched to the limit as it is, we have a dire need for mid-level officers, and without a draft, the armed forces of the united states would be extraordinarily vulnerable as we steal from peter to fight paul.

let us hope that this current upheaval gently morphs into a dedicated, organized challenge to the staus quo and let us also hope that unlike in Pakistan, it wont be snuffed out by rogue elements inside of the intelligence services.

Zeus, all this saber rattling about Iran is exactly the same saber rattling that occurred with Iraq. They threw out the almighty dollar and the dogs of war were unleashed. Same action,,, same reaction. Iran doesn't want dollars for oil. WND in Iraq justified an invasion. WMD in Iran justifies an invasion. How would it look if we came out and said that we had to invade to protect the dollar? It's true that israel would like us to slap down her enemies but, protection of the acceptance and reputation of the dollar is paramount.

You take our dollars or you'll soon take our missiles  The theocracy in Iran is just about as stupid and ignorant as one would expect of a theocracy. BUT, they do understand MAD. Why would iran launch a missile that they yet don't posses to deliver a small-yield bomb that they probably can't manufacture that would do minimal damage IF their aim was any better than North Korea's aim,,,, just to invite a retaliation of a couple hundred very well-aimed nukes from israel?

Follow the money.

Nope, they won't use it. Simply the threat of force makes terrorism work, not the actual use of force. Pakistan has nukes, they haven't used them. India has nukes, they haven't used them. When N. Korea gets nukes, she won't use them. Why are you spreading hysteria? Are you a foreign agent?

We don't want to rattle sabers, we want Iran to work out their own problems. It's apparant to me that the Mullah's have forgotten their base of power, the revolutionary will of the people. When the people are ignored, like with the Shah, they will eventually make their wills known. Like the Shah, the Mullah's have forgotten the people. The Iranian people are tired of their Presidents rantings and the Mullah's acceptance of the firebrand. We are witnessing another revolutuion and we know there is a possibility of a change from failed theocracy to a new system. It might be democracy, it might be something else. Let's just stay out of it, m'kay?

So you think it's Israel behind the commercials?

We might be fighting North Korea, but never Iran. The Iranian Ambassator contradicks Amajinajad on many of his stances including German death camps. Israel even thought that pakistan would bomb them!

Israel attacks I hope they don't expect us to come to its defence. They are on their own. Remember the USS Liberty they might even attack us even if we are on the same side.

But as far as the commercials, the backers are stupid to think we will do anything about the nukes. The Jews in the Bush administration was successful in getting bush to go to war because he was a puppet for oil and had crudge to settle. Obama has no one that he must payback in a way of a war.

The current situation in Iran is going to turn into a blood bath for the Moussavi side sorry to say. Martrdom is not the answer but an army to back one up and he doesn't have that.

what is your citizenship?

sicilian. My last name is derived from a greek name. Our family originates from the interior section and not from the coast. It also contains the best preserved greek temples of antiquity.

One may say, we survived the Carthaginians, Romans, Germans and the turks.
