I would really like to know of a quick and easy, down and dirty, high and outside, wild and wooley way of retrofitting thrift store clothes for the other than skinny. (personally, I think all the disco slut wear I've been buying is what they wore before they got married, turned respectable and put on weight that they now want to get rid of.)
If it's sleeveless, I'm thinking that you can easily sew in panels in the sides to bring it up to human rather than elf wear.

Take said outfit.
Split at seams.
Sew piece of another skinny thrift store outfit into new opening.
Repeat as needed.

TaaDaa.
Mish-mash patchwork dress (or shirt, or pants...)

Sewing skill required, but I've seen this done & it looks great!

And my model 15 treadle Singer I was gonna bring out to the playa is acting really wierd. running out the bobbin in 3 stitches, and tangling all over hell under the deck. If I can get it up, then it'll be out there.

Don't forget Louise and I are giving away clothes for the fashion-needy on Friday, starting at 2:00 pm-ish. Chance about 8:20. Look for our Civilized Explorer flag.

Louise is very good a tricking stuff up with embroidery and sewn on ribbons, lace, rows of buttons, and such.
