How will you push your personal boundries at BM in '06??
How will you push your personal boundries at BM in '06??
How do you intend on pushing your personal boundries this year? I find it's good set a goal before the event. A few semi-specific tasks designed to take myself out of my box and walk me around.
This year I will talk to more people I don't know, try at least one thing a day that makes me frightened, confused or uncomfortable and have more sex than last time. If i'm lucky all those things will go hand in hand.
How will you seek new tastes this year?
   :?

If by boundary, you mean "expand one's comfort zone" then I am doing the following. (Boundaries are healthy and necessary!)
This is my 5th burn, and every time before I have been blessed with going with a beautiful woman. The last 2 burns were with the woman who I married last year.
But it has always bothered me alittle that I relied on these women to give me strength to be who I am (which doesn't always make others happy... shrug).
This year, because of a ticket that my wife gave me, I am going alone. I am camping with a great group of people I've gotten to know over the years, but really, the act of going alone and having no one who I know will want to explore with me and engage in mutual wackiness and wake up next to me is a little frigtening and a lot exhilirating.
Not sure this makes sense, but there you have it.

I'm going to be riding a bike while on Poop Patrol. I've never done this, as I've had to transport supplies hither and yon. This year it's just my body to transport. I've been working on fixing my bike for this goal, and riding occasionally.
By being on a bike I hope to be more interactive than in years past. That's a good thing.

Considering that this time last year I was in and out of doctor's offices, simply GOING will be pushing it for me.

But I thought due to the gravitational gradient it is supposed to be impossible to escape from a black hole...?!Stranger's eyes are little black holes of consciousness, I can go inside and be sucked in to another universe.

New volunteer experiences, stuff I'd never considered before. Coupla shifts as temple guardians, and fire safety for the Utah Incendiary Circus. Who'da thunk, me 'n larry, fuel masters. Placed theme art on the playa, that's new. Hosting Family Home Evening on Monday, that's new.

I'm in a similar boat. (I'm also a first timer, so maybe I am worrying too much...?I will let someone else plan my trip. I sure wish he would tell me what the plan is...I mean, if he has a plan. He better have a plan.

Nah. First-timers are lucky if they have someone planning for them. Like I told another first-timer, when you ask them questions about things like travel, timing, food, water, shade, etc., make sure you get explicit answers instead of assuming things will be the way you think they will be. Nothing can ruin a first time like logistical problems.BAS wrote:I'm in a similar boat. (I'm also a first timer, so maybe I am worrying too much...? :? )I will let someone else plan my trip. It's what you make it.
I will for the first time volunteering. I am an artist so I am going to paint the cafe(center camp)
I met someone here on e-playa. We spoke for months I invited him to drive up with me to BM. All along not knowing what he looks like. I will be picking him up from the airport tomorrow. Scarry

Lets see- I'm pushing my boundries by being the only writer other than Adrian to have my real name under my stories (well, they will be under "ShutterSlut", but then I'm in the masthead with my full name).
Oh yeah, I'm also the main writer for the fashion Do's & Don'ts. Full tilt snarky, with pictures. If facing the wrath of popping someones Happy Bubble isn't pushing boundries......
And the countdown until leaving rolls on...

Well, I am letting someone else coordinate the transportation. I'm still getting my own stuff for when I get there (and so far, getting my own stuff together has been more than enough of a challenge!)HughMungus wrote:Nah. Very cool!
I'm personally going to do a little more costuming for myself, more exploring the theme camps, and mabe a little less partying than years past.

I am going to push the boundaries of space time and have my tent simultanious occupy the same footprint of one of my campmates' (tents). I'm not going to annouce which campmate beforehand.

It makes perfect sense to me. Last year was my first year on-playa without the ex. I kept stumbling over him almost everywhere I turned (nice trick in a city of 35K), but really, the year was all about me. It was scary...but ultimately satisfying to know that I COULD do this on my own.blyslv wrote:This year, because of a ticket that my wife gave me, I am going alone. Easy solution. One person could be camping in an SUV with a tent attached to the back. On top of the roofrack could be another tent / fishbowl where fishy could stay. Same overall footprint, two individual camps / tents.skygod wrote:Fish no have feet.theCryptofishist wrote:simultanious occupy the same footprint of one of my campmates'
So...I'm not saying that's what she's got in mind but it shows that the idea is feasable.
And remember you're camping on Lake Lahontan....if the Camp Herring folks can send subs out there to try and take on Camp Apokiliptika nothing is outside the realm of imagination.

I pushed my comfort levels pretty far last year and I was amazed at the freedom I felt. This year, I'm going in a different direction and it's almost more scary. I'll be camping with my SO of almost 1 year. The last time I brought a "date" was 3 years ago and the experience damaged my 4 1/2 year relationship irreparably. Hopefully, I've chosen much better!
