Camp sign plans/designs?

Post by disrup-sean » Mon Aug 14, 2006 3:28 pm

I know you folks have sign wisdom to share... Can you offer any tips you've learned for building and securing stylin, simple and effective signs to identify your camp from the road and make it easily findable?

Thanks

We bought some pre-made wooden cut-out letters from the local craft store, about 6" high, painted them (white with various shades of blue and gold) with some $.88 acrylic paints, added a few pre-made cut out wooden hearts (because we are Hearts Gone Wild, after all) and lips and stuff, painted those, then mounted them all with heavy duty wood glue on a larger piece of gold-painted plywood. It looks lovely! :)

We are going to hang it from our 2" steel pole carport, securing the bottom as well as the top, probably with wire.

We have two large (4' X 6') signs which were professionally made that we can use year after year. They did cost nearly $300 apiece, but since when was cost any object when it comes to Burning Man?

If it's not difficult, expensive, or particularily time consuming it's usually not a good playa project. It's been said before but it really does ring true.
