All that would be the morris dancers at Folsom St. Fair.
"I'll be there with bells on" seems to be in my mind--sort of I'll be there and ready to party.

humming a few bars of Chicago's tune...
[quote="BAS"]Thanks. Now, how will I know it is 6:00 p.m. if I am not wearing my watch...? (A good possibility, all things considered.)

does anybody really know what time it is?
Heck I'll be lucky if I know it's Thursday!
Just follow the crowd to the party - easily done on the playa :-)

LONDON (Reuters) - Billed as the largest private collection of Barbie dolls, the lifelong passion of a Dutch mother will go under the hammer next month.
Up for sale are 4,000 dolls spanning the entire history of Barbie and her friends, family and fashions which stretches back to 1959.
"This is a collection of virtually everything -- and most of it is in mint condition as it has never been taken out of its boxes, making it particularly highly prized," said Daniel Agnew, toy expert at auction house Christie's.
Conservatively priced at around 100,000 pounds ($190,000), the collection will go on sale in London on September 26.
It was started in the early 1960s by Ietje Raebel, who bought her first Barbie for daughter Marina.
Marina spurned the doll which remained untouched in its box but Raebel got the collecting bug, inspired by Barbie's ever-changing wardrobe.
Ietje had designed clothes for herself and her friends in the 1950s and 60s before she was married and had Marina.
After that she dedicated her life to Marina and Barbie, according to Marina. Ietje stopped collecting in 2002 when she developed severe Alzheimer's disease.
Over the years designers from Calvin Klein to Christian Dior have styled outfits for Barbie in her varied professional guises including model, astronaut, doctor, firefighter and politician.
"Pretty much all of those are represented in the collection, as well as houses, horses, hotrods and a host of other items," Agnew told Reuters.
The co-founder of U.S. toy giant Mattel, Ruth Handler, invented Barbie in 1959 and named her after her daughter Barbara, and she has become the top-selling doll in the world.
Boyfriend Ken, who came along later, was also named after one of Handler's children.
Named Barbie Millicent Roberts and with 95 different careers and 45 nationalities under the belt around her wasp waist, Barbie has a mind-boggling array of accessories, including 43 pets ranging from a poodle to a zebra.

Should Barbie be "retired"? She's hitting her 50's...some in the media think it's time she says bye bye!

We should be so lucky. As long as whiney children can force their exausted parents to shell out $15, she'll be here.Kinetic IV wrote:Should Barbie be "retired"? She's hitting her 50's...some in the media think it's time she says bye bye!

Last year I stumbled upon the meet & greet after having sum yung guy peer into the core of my being and report back to me his findings. It was nice to see all the happy shiny people and one of you guys even gave me a hug. And I drank a non-alcoholic beverage that had a very interesting and pleasant effect on my brain. And then I went to serve as security for the GCBEC. I'll try to come again this year. I remember the guy with the shirt that had the mug shots of celebrities on it and if you asked a certain question he would have to give you the shirt. That was cool.

That was my shirt and I ended up giving it away (I went on the internet and found another one, which I'm keeping). The question was, "Hay, where did you get that shirt?" And I would ask back, "Would you like it?" and when the guy said yes, I gave it to him. It seems that the shirt had a curse on it, or so I was told. I was at an E Clampus Vitus doins and that's what the Clamper who gave it to me said when I asked him that question, so I believed him. Somehow the guy who got it from me did not believe it was cursed and now, no doubt, he's rotting in hell or New Jersey, whichever is deemed worse.

I've heard people leave some parts of Jersey for the upgrade to hell - the tolls are the same, but there, they *expect* you to drive like a homicidal maniac.Dr. Pyro wrote:...It seems that the shirt had a curse on it, or so I was told. I think the guy has since signed up for Apokiliptika.
If a Clamper tells you something's cursed, it is. If he tells you it's not cursed... it is. If he curses at you... you let his beer level drop!

Ah, man, this is why money is wasted on the rich. If I was rollin' in bills I would *so* snag this collection and donate them all to the good Dr. for adding to his work. I'd love to see around $200K of Barbie marching to her "freedom," on the playa. :)Karma wrote:...LONDON (Reuters) - Billed as the largest private collection of Barbie dolls, the lifelong passion of a Dutch mother will go under the hammer next month. ...Conservatively priced at around 100,000 pounds ($190,000), the collection will go on sale in London on September 26...
