How do I find my brother?
I'll be arriving mid-day on Monday; my brother isn't arriving until Wednesday. I don't have a registered theme camp with a fixed location. I'd like advice on strategies for his finding me. We did get walkie-talkies, so we will probably have an agreed time to try to talk to each other. Other than that, there must be some strategies I've just not located. About the only one that comes to mind is "when you get through the gate, turn right and I'll be in that half of Black Rock City." (That way, I'll be one of only about 15,000 people for him to try to find.)
One other strategy would have been to say "I'll be at the far end, or along the outermost street." However, I have other friends I'll be with, who have specified that this year they definitely do not want to be on the outermost road (too much dust) or at the far end (louder music; too far from stuff at the other end).
Help?

Ditto , but I always have a backup...
.... in case all for some reason the computer bank fails, I say " meet me where the esplanade meets the road to the man at xxxoclock ( anticipated arrival time) , and I'll keep checking every hour on the hour after ( in case the people arriving are delayed)".
Stay hydrated my friend.

I suppose that if I ask what is a fairly unused channel, that we could agree on ahead of time, it will then become a highly used channel because others will read this and have the same problem.Ugly Dougly wrote:It sucks to have to keep going back to a spot to look for a certain person, when you'd rather be taking in the sites, putting up camp or being seduced. Get you a pair of family-band walkie-talkies, agree on a fairly unused channel and there you go.

My brother needed to meet his buddy who was supposed to arrive sometime wednesday afternoon and knew where we were camping. He didn't show......didn't show.....didn't show......
So my brother hops on his cycle and volunteers to be a greeter. He meets and greets for a few hours and has a fantastic time. In the mix, he finds his buddy.

And plus, remember if your brother contacts you by walkie-talkie, and asks where you are, your first tendency will be to say “I’m over here behind the big blue tent, by the people who are doing weird things with fire. Where are you?”
