Another question...about ONAN rv generators. Anyone know about cleaning out one...its been on the Playa for 2 years. This Summer, it wouldnt start. Is it possible for Playa dust to kill the belt drive ?? Any ideas for cleaning out without taking it to a dealer ??
Thanks again.

Impossible. You will piss off all you neighbors if you run the powermate even with the baffle. The baffle may keep the natives from outright asaulting you but it won't prevent the eventual vandalism of the device.dj_john69 wrote:Im working on a baffle box for a Coleman Powermate...YES, the noisy bastard. I dont want to piss off too many neighbors around me.

I have a semi-related question/request to put out there...
My camp is organizing an all-nighter at the temple on Wednesday night (click here to read about it). While a large portion of our sound will have generators supporting it, someone has offered to let us use a bunch of their powered Mackie gear. We need to amass a number of generators to be able to use it. On the plus side, each speaker cabinet has its own amplifier, so it won't require doing crazy things to link generators.
By any chance, would anyone be willing to lend us the use of their generator on Wednesday night? In order to start on time we'd need to get the equipment to one of the art cars helping by nightfall, and we would be wrapping things up after sunrise, meaning we'd realistically be returning that around 9-10am. If you can help, please let me know (I'll be checking this thread until I leave for the playa in a week and a half, or just send a private message).
Thanks!

Oops, sorry about that ibdave, I should have specified. Mackie is a brand of PA equipment. They make a great line of highly portable powered (active-amplified) speakers.
Whereas normally you'd have an equipment rack with a stack of amplifiers and then running lines out to each of the speaker cabinets, with these you just run the lines to the speakers and they daisy-chain into each other. Each speaker is then plugged into AC - for us that means we don't have to do any work to divide the load, since each speaker has its own amplifier.
