People to meet / avoid on the playa.

Post by can't sit still » Thu Aug 17, 2006 7:52 pm

There's not one single person in this group that I met last year on the playa.
I'm making a mental list of who I should meet. Only Robbi and Rebbi know me at all.
Big cock won't be there unfortunately. Rockdad and Mozy, Tiajar and dragonfly BAS, ZUES Zulle and Box K IV,,, who else? Badger and I shouldn't make sparks,,, can't say the same for Badger and K IV
I might rub a few the wrong way; SED, 007 and Genuis.
Joel,,,it will depend on his mood. Cowboy Angel,,it will depend on the subject.

I want to be there when Helitack is cooking.
I would find it difficult to have a casual conversation with Geekster or Jellyfish
I've missed several. No slight intended,,,you know me. I guess that's everyone.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH yeah, there are women in this group too.

I have a funny feeling that any discourse with the cryptic one would spiral down to a contest as to who can remember the most minutae,,,not me.

Magikal seems to see eye to eye with me, so obviously she's very intelligent
And then there's SUE,,,Bay Bridge Sue I once called her formidable. I best keep that in mind. One false move and I could get my ego extirpated
One brain fart or Fruedian slip and I could wind up in the gondola of that big-ass trebuchet. Then I could tell Big Cock what it's really like to fly.
,,,or the Mousetrap.

I'm hopimg to have a peaceful interesting time.
I think that the only shit-list that i'm on is Alaska Mojo

SO,,,post up Posters Who do you want to meet? Who do you want to avoid?
Don't crap-out and tell me you already know everybody interesting.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

I got a lot of visitors in camp last year, but then I'd put a Big Fucking sign with my name on it out front.

"I would find it difficult to have a casual conversation with Geekster"

I don't think you would. Because first of all, you probably wouldn't know you were talking to "geekster" so that would never cross your mind. And second of all, I probably come across somewhat differently in real life. The few who I have met from here were for only brief encounters. It really wasn't long enough to get to know them or form any opinions of them. I did have an enjoyable evening with Badger once sitting at the bar at the BORG2 election meeting back in January 05 at the Odeon before some of us bailed to hop on Chicken's bus and go bowling.

Of the people here the one that knows me best is probably purplekoosh because she is local and I have seen her sing. None of my other local burner friends who know me well (my campmates in particular) hang out here so it would be hard for people to get an objective opinion. We just don't know each other is all and sometimes the mixture of what is really me, what is performance art, and that which is designed simply to get people to think about things they might not normally want to think about gives the impression of someone quite different than the me you would see if we were sitting shooting the breeze.

Of the people I have met here over the years, there is probably only one I would avoid.

People to meet: Everybody. Seriously. But if I had to pick a top 3: Xta G, Bay Bridge Sue (whom I admire yet am scared of, sheesh look at her Apokiliptika work, would YOU wanna make her mad?) and CapnBadger.

People to avoid: Nobody. Not even Tiara, Badger, or if she was to show up, Melissa. I may have a chance of seeing Tiara in passing, all I would do is smile and keep going about my business. As for Badger, our online spat is nasty but face to face I'd be able to silence him with facts so quickly he'd run like a scalded dog.

Moving on, SED....I'd like to meet if for no other reason than to see who's behind that avatar. I'd like to see the KA /CH folks without being interrogated or worse...KA worries me for some reason (grin). There's so many others to list...too many I'd like to meet and hopefully will.

And last but not least, Fishy. If there's one person I hope that has the best burn she's ever had it has to be her. She's been an inspiration while I've watched from afar as she dealt with so many things this year. I stand in awe at how she pulled it all off.

yes.

my perceptions and attitude have changed after everything here, unfortunately many have drifted towards something worse. since its an entirely different situation when people meet face to face i am relying on my attitude also being just as different.

if its not, then its time to me to walk away.

so if there is anyone with any kind of moderator dealings that they dont agree with, or sour feelings of any kind then i will tell you now that it wont matter - none of it - while i am at the event. i sincerely wish that people have the most positive experience.

its been a long and strange trip indeed, and i have come to respect people here in ways that i had never considered before.

I'm not making the list this year. I did it last year and didn't meet half the people I wanted to, but did meet all the people I did, and they were all fun and nice.

Oh dang, it's not an effin' contest. The way I remember things is that I'm interested in them. Also I'm one of those people who does better with ideas and connecting them together than I do with people, cause sooner or later I say something stupid.

I do have a growing appreciation of the wonderful variety of human minds. I'm very glad I'm not someone else and I'm constantly amazed that people who apparently live in the same physical world I do can see and experience such different things than me. I was a horrible intellectual snob in my youth, and I still don't suffer fools gladly, BUT I have (eta: been) humbled enough times to expect to happen again, and again, and again. I really and truly find that what's most important is not a quick mind (hey, I like that, just as as some people like to do tricks with other parts of the human animal) but a warm heart.

Of course, I suppose I could be lieing through my teeth...

Do I see a thunderdome appearance in your future? Why mess around,,,settle it once and for all.

I made a casual reference to the age of the Ice Queen on the Arctica Yahoo group. Amani took offence and challenged to meet me at pillowfight. I told her that I was too smart for that. I have 6 sisters and they put their shoes in the pillowcase.
I wasn't about to get hammered to death by 5 women swinging pillowcases filled with ice blocks.
I think we may be on for Thunderdome.

Ummm, exCUSE me, I realize I really like color & all, and art, and I like gifting henna tattoos & wearing my earings & beret & orange & purple silk scarves, but...

But darn it, I'M MALE!!!!! (born that way, ya know...). Not quite the knuckle-dragger rednek type, but that doesn't change the fact that I pretty much favor the fairer sex. No offense, I realize my postings could create confusion, just setting the record straight...
