My understanding of tarps is that whatever the color, it must block infrared - that's what makes me hot. I've used both a white, 100% opaque tarp (rubberized cotton) and the silver tarp (no clue what it's made of). Both were opaque to infrared and both kept me cool.

My test is to hold it up to the sun - if I can see the sun through it, I'm not using it as my roof.

UV is what causes sunburn and skin cancer, but IR is what makes me hot.

If you can hang on until 2045 (if any of us can...), then one is going to happen RIGHT OVER the Black Rock Desert.

Looks like I have a new life goal...I'm gonna see that eclipse if it's the last thing I do!
