Gas in Cedarville this year?

Post by vic » Tue Aug 15, 2006 9:22 pm

Is the gas station in Cedarville still in business? The driving directions on the official site make no mention of it.

From today's Jack Rabbit Speaks:
TRAVEL NOTE

It was brought to our attention that word is out. Alturas is the
last chance to gas-and-grocery when coming in from the North.
However there are two more small towns located on Hwy 299/Modoc
Co/Surprise Valley Rd. Cedarville has 2 stores, the Cedarville Grocery
and Pages in Cedarville, CA. There is also a small Convenience
Store/Cafe in Eagleville about 18 miles on Surprise Valley Road before
it turns into NV Hwy 447. Eagleville is the last chance to purchase
anything until arriving in the Gerlach/Empire area. However, one needs
to go seven miles BEYOND Gerlach to Empire for a store, and then
backtrack to the event.

I got gass in Cedervill just looking at the price.
.
THere is a BP station there. The little town stays alive with the Forest Ranger station and farms. .
Coming from the north at 20 mpg you can make BM and back to Lakeview Or.
.
Always carry ten gal with you. Never know when one othose little towns will run out of gass. Each year Burning Man makes a larger impact all along the route.

Are they selling gasoline in Cedarville in 2006?

I will try again - the quoted piece from the BM guide does not mention the availability of gas in Cedarville. I have gotten gas there the last four years, but does anybody know about this year?

No prob, Searched the yellows. Called the BLM Surprise Vally Fire Station. Right from the horses mouth: The station has changed hands. It's some kind of off again on again deal. Some time open some times closed. Don't depend on it.

Asked if there were any fires the be concerned about. No, but they are expecting lighting strikes this weekend.

There is still gas in Cedarville. The station has changed hands and is open now at odd hours. I tried to call to check on the hours and no one was available. I'll post back to let everyone know what is going on, they may keep it open more for you guys. I'll ask them on monday.
