The evil Wallyworld carries the Equate generic Ensure knockoff...the 350 calorie strawberry ones aren't that bad. That's actually on my list of things to bring.Ugly Dougly wrote:I'm usually too hot to eat, maybe a COLD Ensure.
Now if I could only find good ways to spice up / enhance ramen noodles or I could find MRE's with only a week left to go I'd be in good shape food wise.

I bring small cans of tuna, for my RDA of mercury, and tins of smoked trout. Foil packs of cooked salmon are pretty good too. Lots left over to share.
I've tried to find the instant soup packs without MSG, (including all of its disguises, such as autolized yeast, glutamic acid, etc.). But I've had no luck. It would be be such a quick and easy lunch, if it wasn't for the headache afterward.

Easy and somewhat healthy snacks...in that heat it's hard to find something savory without busting out camp stove and making a mess or eating those sodium heavy convenience foods. We bring a lot of fruit and pre-made frozen stuff for dinner (doubles as ice for a few days) but we found that getting enough protein is the key.
String cheese is the best (no mess and tasty)! We also bring a dozen hardboiled eggs which works for breakfast or snacks, hummus with flatbread/chips or "Mexican Sushi" (flour tortillas spread with cream cheese, salsa, veggies, tuna or whatever filling you like - roll it up and slice into sushi sized pieces). Great for sharing too.
Trader Joe's has these "just heat up" tuna curry packets that are really convenient and tasty (I keep my eyes off the label on those).
Enjoy!

Pineapple (preferably fresh, but canned is also good), canteloupe, a burrito or other pre-cooked meal right out of the cooler, cashews, crackers, M&M's, ice cream (dry ice required)
Basically, anything that tastes good and doesn't require any prep work. Be sure to prepare smaller portions to account for not wanting to eat as much on the playa as you might at home.

Try the "Annie Chun" soups (http://www.worldpantry.com/cgi-bin/ncom ... d2w/report)
They use fresh vacuum-sealed noodles and good flavor packets. I eat their miso at home and all it requires is a little extra soy sauce (for my taste-buds, anyway). Much better than the dreaded Ramen.

Sheesh. Someone else with a crush on Ivy? Get in line pal. Start walking to get to the end. Further. Yep, further. No cutting. Keep going. Yep, keep going some more. That line is long! And for good reason too.

I generally crack open a health bar or a half-cup of trail mix, maybe a banana to load up on potassium. Not a lot as I'm generally in low cycle about that time of day. Bringing Boost and Yo-To-Go strawberry smoothies this year.

The nearest TJ's is in St. Louis...we've had Wild Oats for years but Whole Earth Foods just arrived last year....KC is a tough retail market and we send a lot of places packing after their 2 year lease is up.
Still I'll keep looking and see if I can find it around here or order it in.

You gotta find where the rich people shop, or at least send their maids to shop.
Of course, my reference is San Francisco, where some people just gotta have fancy tinned fish of all sorts.

dried fruits make a good snack with no mess. we usually will cook a roast and some chiken prior to leaving, and chop up a bag full of veggies. then all we do is throw a little meat and some veg in a pan with the seasoning of the day, and boil water for couscous. no mess and very little clean up...

I can't freakin' believe nobody's said "pussy" yet. What the hell is wrong with you people, anyway? Ya' know, when the guy wearing a fucking cheeleader outfit has to remind you kids about priorities and what's really important in life, well, it's a sad day indeed.

Okay, I was basically just looking for a way to post this '05 pic one last time before this year's fashion shoot. Remember, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Then it's just fun.
See ya's on the playa, kiddies!
