Holeeee Shit. Larry was in town and we made it to the fire performers practice as we're doing fire safety for the Utah crew this year. Got our playa assignment: we're the freakin' fuel masters. Holeee Mutha O' gawd. We'll be between the fire performance and the Man. Front row seat my shiny metal ass!

Geekster, I'll be with the Dreamtimers at Esplanade and 7:30. Look for Ivy's mannequins.

Yeah, definitely look for the mannequins. I wondered what she had planned when she picked up so many of them and then I stumbled across the dreamtime website last night. Needless to say my list of things I have to go check out got an addition.

I got my water tanks today and started some preliminary packing. Not too much since I have a horse show to go to in Portland this weekend and I don't want to hump hundred of pounds of schtuph around longer than I have to.

Soooooo not in panic mode. Up to pace and going the distance.

Geekster, get a move on! Start packing today!

Just got the shade structure broken down, I set it up on Saturday to make sure I had all the parts and nothing had become so rusty it wouldn't fit. Rather fix that here than on the playa. Will start going through clothes tonite.

Seem to be missing some tent stakes and home despot was out of them. Will hit the army navy story or try home depot again in a couple of days.

Not bringing much costumage this year ... just my playa coat and some regular shorts/tshirts.

I would like to take this opportunity to make an announcement:

At the current time our camp doesn't need anything from "the community".

Yeah, a shocker, I know.

Five days until we hit the road. Saturday is the prebuild for Shady Tower, when we erect the foundation and support wires, build the tower, and cover 2/3 or so of her for effect. We've had our camp go from 12 folk to 17 with another six still on the bubble. How one can be uncertain about attending the burn at this point is beyond me, but there it is. Every day for the past two weeks has been filled with preparations and I've loved every minute of it. Every day for the next 10 is planed and scheduled and filled with tasks. But I love every minute of it.

Ah, it's burn time...

:)

3 deep breaths. Make a pack list (I cant say how much shit I've forgotten not doing this) first, and slam the packing out of the way. Prolly take you a few hours. Then you can relax and not lose a finger on the second half...

Then do the MV. Figure out what you need, what MUST be done at home, what can be done on playa (remembering time and equipment limitations on that). Make a checklist. Get as much as you can do, and if you're within reach, then finish it on Monday on playa. The only way you should scrub the MV is if (a) there's just no way you can get all the "at home" stuff done before you leave, or (b) you don't get parts delivery until your "go" date/time.

Unless you get screwed on the parts thing, you'll be cool. You still have a few days. If it don't make it, there may be a reason some etherical power is keeping the MV there (This IS burning man, strange sghit like that is normal!!!)

You can do this thing, just don't forget to BREATHE!!!

I hit a few more sources and managed to trim $20 off my "end-of-packing" shopping budget. Go me!!!

Only five more packing days left, a rest day, and I'm off to the Playa next Saturday (with a stopover at Eagles Nest RV).

Lorgasm, it's a while before you fly and you already seem pretty stressed.

I prefer Kava Kava myself to calm down...but it's not for everyone. Since I'm not flying I'm not taking the Kava...I'm channeling the extra energy into prep work. It's amazing what I'm getting done around here!

Thanks CSS.

I hate sounding like a "nervous nellie". I've never been this nervous about this till now. Other times I've been fine. Well, almost fine. But fine nonetheless. Just now I feel scared a bit. I appreciate your advise.

I have five more things to buy and nine things left to pack, then I can start loading the car. I'm gonna take it slow on account of my back injury, still a little stiff.

Gods bless Big Lots! and the Dollar Store. I had a bunch of little things left to get and I got them all for about $30 last night. They don't have anything cool like camp chairs and prayer flags but I got dustproof containers for all my clothing. Blessings on Rite-Aid too...I couldn't afford 5-htp but I picked up some stress vitamins which are at least as good with tons of B vitamins, C, biotin and iron.

Five days to launch, this time next week I'll be nesting in my yurt on the Playa!!! Image

Actually, I think that's what the Russian ones do.
