Every time he asked his Zen Master the meaning of life he would strike him with a big stick till he ran out of the temple in pain.
He went to a different Zen Master and asked him: Please Master take me on as your student My old zen master hits me with a big stick whenever I ask him the meaning of life!"
The new Zen Master says :"Certainly I will. But first you have to go back to your Old Zen Master and thank him for his Grandmotherly Kindness."
