Hello there!
I'm the Wandering Pixie and this year is my first Burning Man. My boyfriend has been about three or four times, but I'll be a burn virgin. I would have come along in 2005, but I was already committed to another event in the UK that was happening at the same time.
A little about myself...
My real name is Kristy and I'm Australian by birth, nature and passport. However, I consider myself more a citizen of the world after wandering around the globe for the last two and a half years. I'm currently based in Colorado Springs USA and seriously hoping to move to North America permanently sometime in the near future.
Aside from a traveller, I'm also a photographer (digital baby, yeah!) and starting to get back into doing some serious art after a semi-enforced break of many years.
Hope to meet some of you at BM. I'll be the one either decked out in blue, blue - or for another option, blue! - or doing some sort of rainbow fairy/rainbow cat idea. Not sure yet. My brain is imploding as it is just trying to get organized!
Cheers!
Wandering Pixie
PS: By the way, in case someone missed it, my favourite colour is, er.....blue? LOL

Hi, finally intro of me
This is my second burn, my boyfriend's TENTH, so last year when he took me I was with a very experienced burner. Still, he said he loved watching it through my virgin eyes.
I was on as Sunn earlier, had to reregister so new user name now.
I'm the lone girl with four or now maybe five or more guys in my camp that's why I posted about "Respite needed from Testosterone camp!!" I'll be checking out some of the girlie/goddess events and much as I will love being with my campmates, will love meeting some girls to bond with as well.
Oh, also...we're doing alot of participation this year even though we're not with a theme camp. Watch for my little hotdog wagon....I made a little mobile grill to take around and gift. (As well as some other surprises :)
See you soon!!

invitation to host a burning man gathering in the Sierras
hello, all!
I have an 8 acre biodynamic farm near Sutter Creek, about 100 miles from San Francisco, which is to become an intentional community around self-contained systems and sustainable agriculture. I would also like to have regular gatherings for discussions about a fearless future.
I invite any artists who need the space (a five acre pasture) for exploration and installation- and would especially welcome anyone who wants to help me learn solar power- a flow form waterfall and stream into the swimming pool is in the design stage of imagination . . .

Sounds like a wonderful place you have there. I used to have a 4 acre organic farm in Oregon and produced veggies, herbs, pumpkins, and steer. I have an interest in bio-diesel and alcohol fuels and a keen interest in solar (electric) power.
I can tell you that farming veggies etc, is a ton of work for very little in return. Raising free range steer and chicken may be a good business since the demand for organic food is skyrocketing. I planted my pasture in red clover that not only gave the cattle food, but pumped nitrogen back into the soil.
There are some burners looking for property to have regional burns. We have one here in North Carolina. The property is much larger than yours but we have 1200 people attend the event (www.transformus.com). Search for Sacramento burners, they may need a location.
Ciao,
Jenn

Looking fwd to my virgin birth in 2007
1) Anyone has any idea for the theme and dates in 2007?
2) Ways to get to Burning Man Festival from Quebec, Canada? (I do not know how to drive!!!)
Hi. I'm from Montreal, Canada. I just discovered about the existence of the Burning Man Festival from reading Around the World in 80 dates by Jennifer Cox (I'm still on page 185). I'm currently completing a 2nd degree and I wanted to plan a way to celebrate this accomplishment. This event and the resulting experience might be the ideal project to fete this milestone.
I will be trolling the guides for virgins both on this forum and the burning man website....

Hi. I'm James, I'll be attending the first half of Burning Man this year, my first year. I'm looking to explore, offer what I can to the community and enjoy myself despite not having an art project or massively cool theme camp. I'll be leaving on Wednesday as I have commitments I cannot avoid, but I wanted to experiance at least some of the Burning Man without putting it off another year.
Any water or food or tradables I have at the end of that time, I'm gonna donate to a neat camp or group of people. I'm coming with extra hats, about twice the water I'll need and a bike I likely will not return home with.
I'll be the long haired guy on the bike with the goatee covered in Playadust. ;)
I look forward to meeting anyone who crosses my path. I very much enjoy telling and listening to stories, conversing and people watching.

Dear Cryptofishist,
Thanks for your response to my 2 questions. I've been reading the Greeter's tread and I'm getting more fearful rather than reassured about what is required both mentally and physically to attend the BM event.
I think it would be best to go with an experienced BM attendee for a virgin BM inductee. I have to try and convince some friends to take the plunge with me. Wish me good luck since I still have 11 months to wear them down.

In response to the newbies on the board, I usually don't post at all but because I am home sick, here I am! Last year was the first time for me and the greatest experience in my life. I learned that I had nothing to worry about; provide for everything you could possibly need, the porta potties are provided for you and you will have an absolutely awesome adventure. Triple A for sure! The hugs you will recieve from just about everyone you encounter will truly back up that "Welcome home".
Hi! I was only introduced to Burning Man about three weeks ago, and I can't stop thinking about it, reading about it, or exploring pictures about it. I've experienced a trying year beginning with my young son being diagnosed with a life threatening illness all the while coming to the realization my marriage is not working for me. Due to my sons illness I will not be able to go this year, however I have made the commitment to myself that next year will be my first of many at BRC. I have some friends that have expressed interest in going, however I do not see the same fire in them about going that I have, so I've committed myself to going with or without them. I look forward to pushing myself physically and emotionally at next years event. If the people here on eplaya are an indication of what BM will be like, I look forward to 2007 and getting to know many of you.
yea that would be great fun. paintballs are non toxic and biodigradable. now if we could only get by the no paintball guns rule.
i honestly belive there are way to many people for paintball. it is only safe when everyone is safe.

hey this is elgin watching the homefront of seattle. you can call me kevin when you are here. watering plants. saying prayers, wishing well the gang (on) the playa. it's a lot like a good church, you can't be at all of them. but the fort needs to be held down while the kids go play. say hello. keep in touch, and don't worry too much. we all get a chance on the ride.

Greetings and hello from Japan!
I've been a Burner for a little over a year. I was introduced to it through my obsession with fire performances (poi, staff, whip, snakes, swords, breathing, you name it) and general audiophile tendencies, including the various techno genres.
I'm currently Active Duty Navy and I was stationed in San Diego, CA, when I attended my first Burn last year. I have recently been stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, where I currently have a DJ residency at the on-base club, Club Alliance (trance/progressive/epic/psy).
I wasn't able to make it to the Burn this year, partically because of finances, unborn child, and my work schedule.
I was supposed to have a mini-pitty party during my DJ set on the 3rd, but Typhoon Ioke scared away my ship away.
If anyone is living in Japan, knows someone living in Japan... hell, has ever been to Japan, contact me... I feel like I'm the only Burner here...

Ohayo, Pink Daddy and welcome. Don't know about current navy/Japan burners, but there are a number of vets on this board and AntiM, a frequent visitor here, and her husband are Navy vets who were in Yokosuka back when. She's probably on her way home to Utah now and will appear here in a day or two. I'm sure you'll find some people.

Greetings from Ga
Hi to all! Glad to be a part of your community. I'm a newbie here although I've known about the BM for a while now. Can't wait to meet the gang!
So glad I found you
Hi, I'm the Abductor, AKA Greg, and I came to The Burn not to see the event, but to meet with wonderful friends, some of whom I had just met, others with whom I was very close. Nothing could prepare me for what Burning Man is. I'm so grateful for the experience, and I'm going back next year to contribute more as a result. I hope I get to meet you all one day but since I probably won't, I'll just say it here, thank you very much.
No words
Hello fellow burners, this just passed 2006 BM was my first but will not be my last. I cant imagine what could stop me from going home again next year. I dont know what i thought it would be but no words are possible to describe my week in the playa. I was part of a theme camp (dementha, 3 and destiny) for the week, i had no idea how much work it took to build a city (even more to take it down), no idea of the obstacles we would face (every single one of which we overcame) and i had no idea of the scale of the event and the ammount of beautiful beautiful people i would meet, i would name them if i had thought to ask them their names but it didnt seem to be as important as a half hour conversation about dust boogers at sunrise. Burn night was a big night for me, and i made a choice to take the man and live burning man everyday away from the playa, its early days yet but i will not try i will do.
Thank you all and if i dont meet you between now and then ile see you all next year.
Thank You *BigBear Hug*
