Don't even get me started.

When I drank, I was always so friendly, like every cheap beer and high end wine I got on the Playa was a magical gift. I use to leave gifts and even helped a guy set up his big camp one year for half of a six pack.

Now I don't drink, but I still love it when people give booze away!

BIT has been my neighbor for the last 3 years, and the playa just wouldnt be the same without a night of "Flesh Gordon" and some tasty tasty booze. This year, be on the lookout for some of Dead Meat's homebrew and take a spin on the Wheel of Crap.

Mike, Silver, Bender, Kay & others have made my experiences very enjoyable with their own special brand of sarcasm, oc sensibilities & general crustiness. My campmates and I have always felt welcomed by them.

Dav, if you want to connect with them, I'd suggest you should check out the OC Burners website, and head to a beach burn.

Yeah, those OC burners are a good group. :)
I'm excited cause this year I actually get to camp near them, so I don't have to go hike across the whole freakin' playa to hang out ;)

But unfortunately I will not be partaking of the "icy shoulder"... just because it's blue. :D

It is also important to remember that people waiting for free booze shouldn't cop a 'tude.
People waiting for free booze shouldn't just be waiting. We NEVER serve booze to anyone that just saunters up to the bar for with the intent of getting something for nothing. We have no problem telling 'em that either. We ask that they move along so that someone with something to contribute (a song, a joke, a story, etc.) can get a fresh one...

"So two buhrners walk into a bar..."

Oh nevermind, I'll bring my own booze.

And kids remember! A 3 to 1 ratio of mixxer to booze is good, but if you bring 5 to 1, at the end of the week you can walk up to bars hither and yon and yell "here's your fucking mixer" as you slam it on the bar before their wide adoring eyes.

Everybody loves a little extra mixer!
Fight for the fifth freedom!

BIT Website?

Post by sparty_girl » Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:29 am

I had a blast watching Bad Idea Theater's version of Harry Potter while laying on a trampoline the night of the burn. At the end BIT mentioned a website that I can't find. I think it was creek creek comics, but apparently it is not. Could someone from BIT PLEASE let me know where I can get some more laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Also, as for people coming into the bar, I never actually entered Bad Idea Theater. Just stayed on that trampoline (ah, good times!). But our camp also had a bar and we had a lot of people whose attendance at Burning Man I question. How can you walk into a bar, ask for a cup (self reliance!) AND a drink, then immediately walk out the door. No thank you, no acknowledgement of the sweet, sweet gift of liquor, just give me my drink so I can puke somewhere on the playa later and c-ya! Where is the love?!

Thank you sparty_girl. I regret to inform that it's not "our" version at all. You can download the soundtrack for free... but you'll also need to pick up "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" for the full effect.

The addy at creasedcomics (which I do not recall) was that of Wizard People, Dear Reader's author and performer, Brad Neely.

You can download the Wizard People soundtrack at http://www.illegal-art.org/video/wizard.html.

Here's an Austin Chronicle article about Brad Neely http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/d ... ature.html

The BIT website is http://www.badideatheater.com/

Thanks and please step inside next year!

Oops I did it again.

Dave came in, gave us some nice gifts. I was distracted and turned back to finish whatever it was I was doing when Mike had called me over, and woosh, dave was gone... I thought he would step back again, nope. What can I say? It's 'silent larry' for a reason; poor interpersonal skills.

Dave...
I was tired, distracted and a little drunk. Seriously, you got to hang around a bit. My attention was divided. I've been feelng bad about this ever since.

Thanks so much for showing Wizard People. It was actually one of my favorite moments at BM. I honestly haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time.

Of course the drugs were definitely helpful in this regard.

My apologies to all the people I covered with that vodka-and-cranberry-juice spit-take when I first walked into the theater.

There's nothin' wrong with BIT. You guys always camp in the 3 o'clock Plaza area right? Maybe for the last few years or so? ...I've met some of you, but like you, I don't remember faces and names. (Cornelius...Team Robot, Robotronia, Robots Unite) Just another smiley white guy wearin' skin tight pleather pants running around with a robot. Easy to forget right? I love what you do! Many a night in Black Rock City I've been spaced out on Mind-joose and just stood and stared at yer movies. Always with the same reaction, "What the fuck is this?" followed by "Woooooow man".

Hey Dav725, next time yer near BIT, look around the Plaza for our camp and stop in. We've got a robot, a video feed-back wall, a little bar, a little moozik and we've been voted the "Nicest People on the Playa" for the fifth straight year! (no disrespect BIT)

Well call me crazy, but I'm of the idea that expecting special treatment from people just because they're at Burning Man is more rude than any cold shoulder.

Burning Man is about radical self-expression. If I'm in a bad mood because I'm hot or tired or dehydrated or just pissed off, I'm not going to pretend otherwise because some people want pre-school in a lakebed.

And I can't believe I've never heard of Bad Idea Theater. I'll definitely check it out next year. Which Harry Potter did they play?

Hey Larry,

It was great meeting you. You guys were busy that night...I hung out and watched the Harry Potter redux which was awesome. Then you played Shake Hands With Danger as a request for someone in our group.

The Icy Shoulder punch was delicious. I came up to say goodbye when I was leaving but you weren't there, no worries.

I got sidetracked much of the week (had I known you guys were showing The Apple, I would have forced everyone in my camp to go. I came back with the Skinny Kitty group and saw that you put the Tina Louise photo up...with the note, Dav, where did you go? I walked up to the bar, introduced myself to the guy working...pointed out the picture on the wall and said, I'm, Dave. He said, "That's nice", gave me a glass of punch and turned away!!! I could only laugh.

Confirms my suspicion that no one reads memos at Burning Man.
