Burningman and the Bible
Burningman and the Bible
The word "Bible" was a word used for lack of better words, however; since Burningman has grown to the point of being it's own entity with it's own city would there be any advantage to create a "Bible" ? What would be in it?
Just food for thought.

Oh please, no. The Beyond Belief theme already put far too much of a religious tone into the event for my tastes, and people already kiss Larry's ass enough.
The world has more than enough Bibles already, as far as I'm concerned.

It's not that I hate you. It's just that I'm a much better person than you.
You've got a point about the "kiss Larry's ass" under The Beyond Belief theme but I was looking not at the "rules of how to live" as in the Bible but as to the stories that relate to how the lessons learned that become the story.Patience wrote:Oh please, no. I thought the survival guide for first-timers guide http://www.burningman.com/first_timers/ was the burning man bible.
Why didn't I get a memo?
Damn! Get back to work.

It's just a DIGIMAN post but working the religion angle instead of the sex one. It's all about throwing out a vague defined topic, denying requests for clarification and then cryptically throwing out intelligence awards for those that are not 'dumb dumbs.'

I can only assume that your secondary objective was to see how full of yourself you actually are.DE FACTO wrote:Hey...you came as close to what the objective was than any of the most smartest indivisuals here came toAlchemy wrote:Not a BIBLE

Some years ago, I spent a little time musing on how a new "construct" intended to be a bible could possibly have that real "oral history with really odd lapses" quality that the "actual" bible has.
The best I could come up with was having a succession of people read it and then re-write it a week later without referring to the original, and adding anything else that took their fancy. Revisiting the idea, I see you'd have to have a bunch of rigid idealogues (or "priests") stick in something that really peeves them and blame someone else for it. And then have someone really crazy edit it, while refusing to clarify contradictions.

Only until we've seized the reigns of power and established our cult as a mainstream religion.Blenderhead wrote:So, you're saying we have to justify that kind of behavior? Why?Zane5100 wrote:Burning Man should have a bible.
Then we can have something to justify our behavior when we start killing hippies and yahoos by impaling them and making a forest surrounding The Man.
There are examples we can follow.
