There was an article about Einsteins theory/model of the universe in a recent National Geographic (MAY 2005) that says that his model did not fit the common held beliefs (read that as Christian) about the universe and he was asked to change it. So he did. They went on to say that his original model seems to be the correct one. the article even said that his model indicates that the laws of time and physics may differ in parts of the universe. Wish I still had that issue.

200,000 years. Yeah you got 200,000 before all traces of humanity disappear:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0, ... 72,00.html
Yet the same article says that humanity is "150,000 years old".
Think about it. If humanity was older, how would we know about it?

Well I expect that we have seen the end comming many times, and every time there were a few survivors. But this time we are actually capeable of getting some people off planet and starting colonies. But nnnoooooo... We are too busy trying to poke each other in the eye to actually do it. We should have had an established colony on the Moon 15 years ago. And another one building on Mars.

I saw a show about super volcanoes on the History channel a while back. It basically said that there were about 7 of these super volcanoes and said that when one goes off the resulting catastrophe is big enough to wipe nearly wipe out all life on the earth. They said that Yellowstone Park is a super volcano and it is building. they also said that "The last supervolcano to erupt was Toba 74,000 years ago in Sumatra. Ten thousand times bigger than Mt St Helens, it created a global catastrophe dramatically affecting life on Earth." Some geneticists research shows that there was a bottleneck in the human population at about the time that the last super vocano erupted about 74,000 years ago.

It's scary alright. Last time it blew[yellowstone] it dropped ash from Ventura to Ohio. They project that it will put 600 cubic miles of ash out. Mt St. Helens was about 1/4 cu. mile,,,if I remember correctly.
That much ash would definitely slow global warming, but the gases that came with it would be another problem.
We would all have to go around like Michael Jackson,,,wearing a mask.

I'm guessing that well over a billion people still walk on dirt.penguin wrote:Man stopped walking on earth for the most part a ways back; first it was cobblestones, then bricks, concrete and now asphalt mostly.
