Did you get a good look at his face? Could you pick him out of a crowd?

Just found their myspace site. Nice!!

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... d=35598003

They had it there for free download. That is freakin' awesome. I gotta search up a CD of theirs and buy it now. Their music made me think of Michael Franti and Spearhead.

And hell yeah, I saw his face... that damn SED. I'd be able to pick him out easy.

It looks like the only volume in that bookshelf by the door is still the poultry breeding manual (http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... tart=41700). Time to toss in some more littiture.

GERLACH, 1935
"Gerlach," Oscar said. They were speeding beside a cinder-bed rail line up from Reno that serviced the salt mines. In the distance Rossie could see a loaf of black basalt amid heat waves. Before it, Gerlach was no trees, no grass, and low buildings with whitewash stripped by the Nevada winds to bare boards except for those that had been tinned over.
"Nothing to do around here but wear out your life," Malinda said.
The Jersey Lilly was a line of shacks towed together with doorways cut between. A lot of the off-duty wearing out took place here.
"Strange as the moon in there." Oscar parked the Packard in front. "You keep it quiet," he said to Rossie. "There might be a man in here who'd love to beat the dogshit out of a kid like you just because you never had to live in Gerlach. You got a ride and a meal ticket and he don't. What they got is mining for salt."

From the Willow Field, just published first novel by William Kittredge. His essays and short stories are worth checking out - the West is in him and it shows. Also worth a look: High Desert Journal, featuring writing and art about that region that includes the Black Rock.

Oh, no, no - I'll share. Tired from a long day at wife's store. We were invited to Halloween parties but too tired to go. I'm just lurking here for a bit, listening to the wind howl, then I'll read and probably fall asleep on the couch. Excitement!

Well, maybe I'll smash a glass or something, just for the noise, and head for my magazines. Good night and thanks for the vodka.

* Zule comes in covered with glowing green dust *

Wow what a ride those guys are crazy, sure hope they make it back before the asteroid hits, who knows maybe they’ll be able to deflect it,.....

Oh a new vodka to try,... who am I kidding it all tastes like booze to me, it’s probably a good thing considering my expendable income it’s good to have unrefined tastes.

Hey look, an emty bottle of air. Hmm... the label says it used to be a bottle of Vodka. And it's got green glowing fingerprints all over it. I dast not touch it.

(uses a plastic champagne glass to push it off of the bar into the waste basket. The champagne glass follows the bottle.)

(Gets some rum and bloody Mary mix and mixes a tall pitcher full. Pours self a tall one and sets pitcher in a bowl with Ice around it and leaves it on the bar)

Whew! It has been a while since I worked 12 hour shifts. This will fix it.

See you all later!

(walks out door with Bloody Mary in hand)

There is a faint green glow in emanating from the waste basket.

I think I'll stick to poultry breeding.

Cool stuff Bin! Pretty playaphilic interest for someone who hasn't been there. Or have you?

(stumbles in, starts coffee, looks for something to pour in it)

Sheesh, thirty years of Rocky Horror and I finally go to a show after gods know how long, and what do these silly kids do? Drop the classic lines "Show him the battleship Janet" and "Servant's entrance in the rear!" Dang whippersnappers. We did it better in Black Rock.

Where's my fucking neck?

(Stumbles out, thick navy joe in hand)
