Wow.... This is a pleasant surprise. Thank you.

Where's my 49 spankings? Oh, hell. I better shut up. 49 spankings X 30,000 burners = 1,470,000 spankings!! Fuck. That would hurt somethin' fierce. I take it back.

Another year older, OK - and that's fabulous, but like -- I am not 49, or am I? Yeah, I am. I honor my age and experiences up to this point. Woo-hoo! But, I remember in 2nd grade when my teacher Miss Depew had us add up our ages and what age would be in the year 2000. I remember her question so vividly, and I remember saying to my teacher, "I'll be 43 -- I'll be DEAD by then, and so will YOU, Miss Depew."

So then 2000 rolled around and I was in the best relationship of my life with a man I wanted to grow old with. I did not feel old or dead at all. My life was only beginning in many many ways.

With every new decade, with every new burn, with every year involved in this burner community, with every new burner friend I meet in my life who becomes a member of my heart felt family I can only feel gratitude and more love inside myself and even more love for every person who comes into my life on a daily basis.

OK. Time for another glass of wine. Man, I get so mushy when I drink.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FRIENDS & FREAKS!!!!!!!!! MWAH!!!!!! XOXOOXOXOX

Happyness Monkeypoo! Welcome to 49, it ain't half bad.

Heh, I'm 49 right now, wheee! Since I turn 50 in January, and I think the Red Hat Society is a crock, I've decide to have purple hair for a full year, beginning from the last burn. I think this will be a great decade. I want to be as happy and joyful as possible, and your delightful posts are one of my inspirations.

LUV & HUGGLES!

OK. I am just gonna throw this out there to the community... My wish for my 50th birthday next year in 2007.

I have skydived twice in my life. Way before I even considered getting pregnant with my special girl Sammi (who is now almost 21). I freaking loved skydiving. My dad was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, stationed out of Fort Bragg, NC. As a child - the oldest of 8 - I gravitated towards him when he would talk about flinging himself out of a perfectly good aircraft and descending upon the Earth.

I saw that sparkle in his eyes.
I paid attention to that sparkle.
I was mesmerized...beyond belief.....

My father died at the young age of 45 from colon cancer. And during his last days, he said to Jerry & David & me, "I was in the 82nd Airborne. I made 81 jumps. Please.....make my 82nd jump for me, OK?"

By that point we 3 were bawling our eyes out. It's so hard to let go of a parent sometimes - even though we know that maybe they need to go on, cuz they are in so much pain -- but it's time to say, "Go on, daddy...it's OK." .....and maybe we may have all disagreed on some issues at one time? Or maybe we fought a lot?

But our parents are our parents. They are the only ones we will have... They brought each of us into this world...and they loved us...and they did the best they knew how to do at the time.

OK -- I got side-stepped. A momentary lapse off into the past.

Can someone put me into contact with the Black Rock Skydivers...cuz I really need and want to skydive into Burning Man in 2008....for my 50th year.

I need to do this for myself this time.

The first year was out of curiosity....and to make my dad's 82nd jump.

My second time was for me..cuz I freaking loved the rush.

My third time is for me...for my 50th birthday.

Hook me up, OK?

Peace & Love & blue skies in a 30,000 foot altitude above Black Rock City....

Certainly dearest. It is a pain in the ass though, I warn you. There is no good permanent purple dye, so I have to go super-light blond and use manic panic or something similar. Takes frequent retouching, about every two three weeks, and stains my tub and pillowcases. I often have faded lavendar hair, but that's cool, pink hair works almost as well as purple. I thought it was just fun, but now it is a challenge.

Whee! And I love little kids, they ask why my hair is purple (or pink) and I tell them, "Because I am old enough to have any color hair I want." Their parents cringe, hehehe. I also love the confused looks from teens and hip young things. They neve say anything, but if they have colorful hair too, you can see them wondering what the old lady is up to, and are they still cool?

You will get your spankings in due time. LOL
I think a drop in over the playa for your 50th would be a blast.

AntiM...try this after you apply the manic panic...1/2 cup of lemon juice or white distilled vinegar mixed with 2 cups of cold water...rinse your hair with this mixture once a week, and dont use overly hot water on your hair when showering, it blasts open the cuticle of the hair and lets the color drain out.(I'm a retired hairdresser)
My oldest daughter used to do blood red manic panic...and the only way I could get it to stay red more then a week is above recipe!

another idea too is they have a couple products out in "celephane" colors...(just coats the outside) I think they have a purple, or eggplant that would lighten...over the course of a week

good to know! I use multiple layers of colors of manic panic, nice overtones, almost irridescent. My other problem is my hair grows out quickly, so I have to dye/lighten the dark underblonde-grey in order for the manic panic to be bright over my roots.

Just not ready to shave it all off though.
