Are you seeing Threads that mysteriously disappear?

Post by Apollonaris Zeus » Wed Nov 29, 2006 9:58 am

I have viewed two Threads that after I posted a reply the threads were immediately removed even after being past the 60 min edit time. I have found several threads over the years that have had trojans embedded in them. If you click on them, you will give someone access to your computer and info!!! Look before you click: copy the link, post it in whois or samspade.org, find out the IP address and post it here so we can see whois who!

I have even had posts that were re-edited or removed and even avatars removed.

I'm not the only person that has seen some strange things going on ever since this site has been hacked: ask AG.

Just a few minutes ago, there was a thread about making money on the internet with a link to who knows where. I posted that this thread should be removed and that someone should see if the link opens an embedded trojan. When I returned only a minute next the link was gone.

Has Eplaya been hacked or is my internet connection? Is Eplaya's IP address been hijacked or diverted to another network or mine? I have seen this occuring on another computer thousands of miles from where I am today!

What strange things have happened to you?

What can be done about it?

AIIZ

PS- before clicking on a link copy the address by right clicking on it and save it. then check it on whois please record the information. we'll find out what's going on!

Those posts are considered spam and the moderators delete them when they see them. They have asked that people don't reply to them so it is easier for them to find and delete. I guess it's easier to delete a single post than a whole thread of posts with replies. So when you see them you can report them here:
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... &start=210

If there are weird things going on outside of spam posts I cannot say that I'm seeing the same things. Might be a virus on your computer. I like AVG anti virus. It's free, but even if they were all free it'd still be my choice. If you're a bit more technical a program called hijackthis is useful for removing unwanted junk like viruses and spyware.

There were no moderators signed in at the time and the Thread couldn't be deleted by the original person (his first posting ever) because it was posted at 9 am and I posted my reply at after 1 pm eastern time!

No, I can't log in anonymously, but I am very, very quick. I pop in, scan for spam, record the IP and post it to Emily (that's invisible to y'all), and then delete the post, and pop back out. I don't stay logged in. I used to leave the replies, but hey, I GOT TIRED OF THAT so I am deleting the entire spam thread. I have asked that no replies be posted on the spam threads, I'm just going to delete the entire thing now. Please report the post as suggested.

Please don't copy the post and propogate the links, just the url please. And I'm sorry, but folks should have learned by now not to click strange links from first-time posters. I've lost sympathy for regular eplayan users who can't spot the spam and stay away from it.

Spam makes me cranky.

Abraham Lincoln had a secretary named Bush.
George Bush once threw up in a frat brother's Lincoln.

I have found that a number of emails never get where they are going.
Same thing happens on here.
And I had a lot disappear fom my mail.
Unrecovered.
Lost.
Spooky.

Spam makes me cranky.
If you have some free time on your hands it's fun to reply to the companies that are advertised in spam. Let them know what you think. Maybe multiple times. I figure if everyone did this occasionally it'd shut their spam machine down. I used to hassle telemarketers until the national do not call list. I was sort of sad that I lost that bit of enjoyment. I got so much enjoyment tormenting the people who torment so many others.

This summer someone broke into my car and stole my favorite ragged sweater. The same person found a book of cd's I had been searching for for roughly 3 months (it was under the passenger seat). Rather than steal it they left it for me to find. Yet the sweater...the sweater was gone ...rather ....mysterious.

Mystery? i know not of that concept. Well, like OK...one time when I was living in Santa Cruz, California, I *did* experience some really serious shit -- but, OK, I was just there on the ocean on the beach from Santa Cruz and there were like these freaky rock formations and a cave and surfer freaks and I just kept tellin' myself and myselff and all my girlie-friends at the time, "YO!! Patti bitch!! I need some serious SUNSCREEN on my paisley-ass white skin."

Did the bitch listen? Um, like, NOOOOOOOOO, cuz she was like dancing in front of these college baby boys. What is with THAT? And what am *I* supposed to do while I am having my fown fun? on a cruise ship? I am a Nature girl. Born & raised in SF.... I enjoy life from touching a freaking celestial starfish in a tidal pool.

I enjoy swimming out in the Pacific COOL FUCKING ocean with a sea otter.

Dammit. The Pacific Ocean is CALLING ME....

I think I must get naked there...and eat sushi and squid balls and oyster slimy meat...and thai food on Embarcadero Street.

"Idiot" was originally used in ancient Greek city-states to refer to people who were overly concerned with their own self-interest and ignored the needs of the community. Declining to take part in public life, such as (semi-)democratic government of the polis (city state), such as the Athenian democracy, was considered dishonorable. "Idiots" were seen as having bad judgment in public and political matters. Over time, the term "idiot" shifted away from its original connotation of selfishness and came to refer to individuals with overall bad judgment–individuals who are "stupid".
In modern English usage, the terms "idiot" and "idiocy" describe an extreme folly or stupidity, its symptoms (foolish or stupid utterance or deed). In psychology, it is a historical term for the state or condition now called profound mental retardation.
