38 gay dude new to SF seeks friends / psychonauts

2 days ago I was going through all the phamaceuticals I had left over after I told big pharma to get fucked and worked on my own recovery. I found an unopened box of transderm scop patches with scoplamine in it. I take it this would be the same substance being mentioned in previous posts? The patches are 1.5 mg. I won't even ask the question that's coming to mind but my curiosity is piqued. I was supposed to take them for motion sickness problems but now a visit to the Vaults of Erowid might be in order. And sorry Don, I'm too busy spending money on 802.11g upgrades and an access point to share very much. I'll be doing good to have enough for me.

Scopolamine is indeed used to treat nausea and motion sickness, but in very small doses. Even then, it's still one of those "I don't give a fuck what Merck says, the cure is not always better than the disease."
Here is the Erowid Scopolamine Vault.
The thing that makes taking plants as drugs a tricky business is that they are very hard to dose. One plant might be bursting with a compound that another of the same species does not contain much of. This is not a big deal when you are talking about THC/Marijuana, but with scopolamine you might be talking about the difference between and intense high and a 3 day psychotic break with a liver transplant at the ass end of it.

Pumpkin Joe Eucalyptus is one of the most awesome names, porn or otherwise I've ever heard.Jane Eric wrote:Heeeeeeeyyy......
I'm thinking about renaming my kid, with your permission. I've already given it out to two telemarketers.
Need a royalty, Jane? Ask what you will, but pleeeeze turn me loose with Pumpkin Joe.
Also 38 YO Gay Dude, or Psychonaut if you prefer, SF is one of the easiest places to make friends, outside of Texas. You'll do fine, and if you want to step through the doors of perception, you won't find a much better place to do so in safety and comfort. I'm personally acquainted with many of the city's cops and I know for a fact that you are well outside the profile of their prefered targets.
Reactions to that may vary, but I think anyone who understands LEO psychology from the inside (and I do) can easily avoid trouble without great inconvenience.
So rock and roll. Just hook up with dancesafe when you manage to score some drugs.
It ain't the hanging, it's the drop.

Maybe you should be Pumpkin Joe Eucalyptus Jr. Or Pumpkin Joe Eucalyptus, II. That way you'd avoid all those pesky legal quandries.Need a royalty, Jane? Ask what you will, but pleeeeze turn me loose with Pumpkin Joe.
Things you should know. Pumpkin Joe was a Tom Cat's Tom Cat. Eucalyptus was a dirt cul de sac.

EEEKKKKK.
Uhm, just to throw in a quick warning into the mix. There are tons of interesting drugs out there to play with, but make sure you totally understand the role of MAO inhibiters before using them to enhance another drug. Read the warning labels on pretty much ANY over-the-counter or persciption drug and there will be a warning to not take them with a MAO inhibiter. There's a reason. A nurse friend of mine (or was it a doctor friend?) a while ago described what they do- and you can get some really fucked up effects taking MAOs with things you normally wouldn't consider drugs, much less those things that can actually seriously affect you.
IE. do extra research on MAOs before you start mixing them with ANYTHING. I'd go out and provide some cites, but it's getting late and I'm lazy.

Very good advice. If you take a powerful MAO inhibitor and then eat many common foods you can get seriously ill.Rob the Wop wrote:IE. do extra research on MAOs before you start mixing them with ANYTHING. I'd go out and provide some cites, but it's getting late and I'm lazy.

With all the warnings it's almost enough to say screw it and avoid the stuff. It's sounding like I need a guide or someone who could introduce me to everything. But alas being in the midwest...that's another curse of living out here. No guides are available.
This isn't the first time I was cautioned on MAO inhibitors though.

I was on those for a few weeks--before they started making me twitch. Good thing I couldn't tolerate them--I couldn't remember all the rules about cheese and raisens and nuts. . . That's just it, these are not party drugs. They are not 'fire and forget', and you should only ingest them with well-informed intent mixed with caution. You are much better off with something like a pill of MDMA if its your first foray into tryptamines.Kinetic II wrote:With all the warnings it's almost enough to say screw it and avoid the stuff. Entheogens are viewed as tools of conciousness exploration, and often times their effects are quite anti-social (vomiting, etc.) It's kinda like climbing a stack of rickety wooden chairs to get a peek in the back window of a house (you) that is not otherwise accessible.

MDMA or MDA first is good advice. It is best to do a LOT of reserch before delving into this stuff ( we can't repeat that enough, can we?) I am going to the first orginizatioanal meeting for ASSA 2004 tonight and would like to point out that if you don't want to mes with this stuff, Altered states can also be achived through Meditaion and Dreaming, althoutgh some people are naturaly better at that than others, it can be learned. That is how I got involved in this stuff. ( and my primary form of reaching an altered state)
I took the road less traveled, and now I would like to go back and find the paved one.

Or try Xanax, a bottle of Jack Daniel's, and insomnia...TestesInSac wrote:Altered states, schmaltered states. Let semi-paste paint remover seep into your system through your hands, then don't eat or sleep for 3 days. You'll be plenty altered.

My only exposure to MDMA sometime this year in a Western state...notice intentional vagueness, led me to 30 minutes of euphoria followed by a total crash and burn in my trailer where I had an out of body experience. To be flying over BRC like I was...I'll call it interesting but it wasn't the experience I expected.
It looks like I've got some research to do.

Now you have to go and mention kids. Guess what my g/f wants...along with rings and strings? And silly me is partial to going along with it. Now you see why the previous topics are so appealing.
Sorry to be so vague with my posts today but I'm at work and they monitor what we send out through the firewall now. I don't want to set off any alarm bells in Corp Security.
