Billboard vinyl
Billboard vinyl
I've read a little bit about billboard vinyl being re-used as shade cloth? How easy is it to come buy and does anyone know if the bigger ad companies like clear channel get rid of it readly?
Also how does it hold up?

Billboard vinyl is amazingly tough, very opaque, cuts with scissors. Holds the heat in, so you need to plan accordingly. They will fray if left to flap in the wind, but we've had our trailer tarp one for three or four years now.
Our local outdoor advertiser has sold us vinyls for as low as $25, although normally he just gives them to us.

The vinyl is great stuff for shade. I got mine free from a local billboard company. Try Viacom or some other outdoor advertiser. It really blocks the heat. I got a grommet kit and banged a few in and secured with little bungee fasteners. It does weigh a ton, though, but its hard to beat for blocking the morning sun. It held up perfectly in the big dust storm last year.

Bring a friend or two when you go get it. They're about 80 pounds.

Pigeon poo.....a good way to be green this year, wash it off into the garden :)
Allright so i'm thinking clear channel is a no-go. The answer i got from them was "we have a contract with a recycling company and arn't allowed to do that" Typical corp.....
As for Lamar, they fowarded me to eugene (i'm in portland)......got a voicemail might be promising..
So if anyone has or can get ahold of some vinyl it would be fantastic....Let me know :)
