First timer ticket question!

So I'm going to burning man in 07' and from what I've read as soon as tickets go on sale there is a huge flood of people. Is this because everyone wants the cheapest tickets possible? Or do tickets sell out really fast? I cant imagine 35,000+ tickets selling SUPER fast but with an event that is the caliber of burning man it wouldn't suprise me.

So how hard is it to get tickets? should I stake out the webpage and refresh button the day they come out or what?

And what was the average price of a ticket last year, and anyone have even a rough guess about what they will be this year?

Burning Man has "tiered" ticket sales. The early tickets are cheaper than later tickets, and tickets at the gate are very expensive. In 2006 the "first" tickets were $185; I don't remember what gate tickets were, something like $350.

But there is a limit to the number of 1st tier tickets; but there are more people that want them...than there are tickets. Also, BM has yet to use a service that can handle the load in the first hour. So, by limiting the number, and then not being able to handle the load, it has turned into a big mess.

But the 2nd tier of tickets is only slightly more expensive, and there doesn't seem to be a problem there.

My guess is tickets this year will be slightly higher than last year.

wonderful just what I was looking for thank you! And do you have any idea how to find out when 1st tier tickets are done being sold? is there an announcement? or do you have to check and see when you buy them?

There will be an announcement, which is why it will be a problem, everyone will be waiting.

My total guess, the first Wednesday in January, at noon. I will be waiting, I need two this year, normally I only need one...
