Sound Camp List?

Post by nsfw » Sun Dec 10, 2006 9:29 am

Hey Y'All, I'm working on a project that is looking for participation from ALL 2007 SOUND CAMPS. I'm not seeing a mailing list for this batch of dogoodnicks... any ideas? Am I blind? Is there a mailing list? Is there a place where I can find a bunch of them? Do I need to hunt them down or should I just post here?

I don’t think anyone has made a list of “sound campsâ€

Thanks... that was my first thought, but it's not always obvious from the description!

I don't believe that there is usually a list of sound camps published anywhere. I imagine it'd be difficult to even get everyone to agree on a definition. Are you looking for anything over x number of watts, regardless of the kinds of sounds they're amplifying? Camps that are specifically into dance music, or live music, performers with a big PA system? And what about the growing number of mobile sound systems? With a little help from my friends, last year I mobilized a little over 30,000 watts at the temple on Wednesday night - from then until late on Thursday morning we made as much noise and drew as many revelers as any traditional sound camp.

I suspect that your best bet would be to watch the theme camp list as this year's event draws near, and to contact folks you think matches your criteria based on the posted descriptions. Good luck!

I don't know how you'd go about it, but it really is a good idea. If you made it I would use it. As far as the definition of "sound" goes, I'm sure every camp makes sounds, but if you're camp's purpose and way of participating would be music or sound... that's a good enough definition for me. Good luck :)

Well, there's Hushville and we don't really make sounds ... unless you count unamplified moans or farting.
