Electric pumps

Post by Taz » Tue Dec 19, 2006 1:39 am

This year at BM I've seen a number of grey water evaporation devices that are powered by a battery powered pump. Where do they get those pumps?

Googling will provide more results than you can use, but if you want to chase one down in person check places that specialize in fishing supplies- There are some nifty little 12V pumps designed to circulate fresh water for keeping bait and caught fish happy. Bigger camping places have shower pumps, but you'll pay more than you need to and you'll need filtration, depending upon your setup. Also check plumbing and contracting suppliers for portable sump pumps and small fountain/pond pumps.

Try looking for bilge pump. They are used to keep water out of boats. They usually run off of 12v dc (a car battery or a few "standard" batteries).

Also Granger and McMastercarr will have lots of pumps for your needs. Those are were I get a lot of my junk.

Might want to try some of the other suppliers.. I have found those 2 to be among the most expensive out there. Granted they tend to have some "hard to find" things, MSC is also expensive but has a massive selection. Personally I prefer J & L Industrial and Travers as they have all the cutters, drills, and taps I use and give me much better prices before the discount. The cheapest I have found is Harborfrieght but they do not always have high quality tools.

I bought mine at (gasp!) Walmart. Cheap and plenty of flow for what I was doing.

True, those companies are expensive but if you just need one or two parts they are very convenient and make things easy to find. It's a good place to start anyway to get a good idea of what's out there that could fit his needs.
