Did you pay cash for it or charge it? If you charged it, you might be covered under your card's protection plan. If you paid cash, you're basically screwed if he had the original receipt. Never pay cash for large purchases unless you are trying to stay off of "the radar" for some reason. Even a debit card gives you protection.mdmf007 wrote:they refunded the purchase price for the camera, and peripherals to him directly in the store.
Also- I know in California we are only allowed to credit a purchase back to the card it was originally charged on, and I think that might be federal law as well (to prevent "floating" scams)- if they credited it back to a different card the store might be liable as well. For $850+, it's certainly worth pursuing.
As for Tyler- report him to the police with your evidence. It was theft plain & simple, and there is no friendship worth saving with someone willing to use you for all you will give & then steal from you. Flush him out into the light- you are probably not the only person he's done this to.

As Eric said, it isn't worth maintaining a friendship with someone who will steal from you after you helped him out like you did. Even if he has the excuse it was to support some "habit", having him arrested might help him kick the "habit" (drugs, gambling, or whatever). Go through legal channels. Even if you don't win, it should at least make Tyler think twice before stealing from you again. As for Tyler- report him to the police with your evidence. SED - killing the bastard is an option, but I should probably save that for something more serious.
Slut - The camera wa purchased with cash, so the refund was cash. The warranty on the other hand was through a third party, and the refund had to come directly from them to me. They sent it via check and US mail after the fact.
He isnt feeding a habit, and is now making money again. I think I will basically write him off to the asshole column, and leave it at that. All of my friends thought he was a dick, so it doesnt affect me anymore as well.
Unless SED wants to kill him?????
thanks for the input, Looking forward to BM 2007
