Re: 2007 Ticket Sales...
Is it gonna be the cluster F**K that was last year w/ online sales?
I just got the JRS yesterday, and fired off a nastygram back to them about the comments that were in it, about previous years SNAFUs.
Mikes reply:
2005 eTicket sales were a mess. Burners were mollified with
statements like "Oh we were bad, and wern't expecting an eMess"
"Vendor did not anticipate the volume of requests" , "OK, we
got caught with our pants down, and understand why, and are
sorry, but it won't happen again cause we have it fixed."
2006 eTicket sales were a mess. Again. Of course folks were
upset. What would you expect?
2007 Now you are cautioning us that there is a whole new
queue system (likely untried) and there may be thousands of
folks in line ahead of us when we try to buy at Zero hour?
Sounds just like the same recipe, just a different cookbook. I
predict likely the same results too, thousands of ticked off
folks at Zero hour.
How do folks get into the queue early ? Do some get lucky? Do
we act like the DWP and barge to the front of the line? [hey,
I'M DWP. tppttt...]
Reply was:
When the line starts at the designated time via the Internet and say
5,000 people try to log on all at the same time, someone will be
number 1 and someone will be number 5,000. No one will be in line
before the designated time.
And another was
There has been testing on the queue system
SO I guess we shall see who's right.
Good Night, and Good Luck
From the FAQ ticket info on the main Burning Man site:janicels wrote:what is the age that you need to buy a ticket for kids
What are the age requirements for the event and do children get in free?
You must be at least 18 years of age or with a parent or guardian that age to attend the event. Children 12 years old and under get in free. Children 13 years and up must have a ticket.

I want to put in my 2 cents about the ticket mess last year: who gives a shit if the server crashed or whatever? And if I don't get the $195 tickets this year because of some server crash, so be it. I guess some people actually had the balls to write in an complain about it. Man, the best thing the Burning Man organization could have done for the rest of us was revoke the tickets for everyone who wrote in and just gave them back their money. I mean we don't need more whinners out there. We especially don't need whinners that we PAY to attend, which is basically what happens when it costs a bit over $220 per person to pull this thing off and they sell a ticket for $185. So the short of it is this: don't bitch if it happens again this year. Burning Man is partly about learning how to bite your lip when shit happens, whether it's that big dust storm that blew your tent away or whether it's that server crash that screwed up your chances at saving a few bucks a ticket.

domitron--- i agree with you 100% why bitch for 30 bucks more? the 220 tickets are the way im going... and if they are gone-- ill spend a bit more? i mean come to think of it--- most ppl sepnd from 50-300 bucks for ONE concert ticket-- depends on the artist-- 220 is a fucking stael--- think about it-- a week long ticket!!!!! for 220!!!!! A WEEK! i know some ppl can afford the ticket--- so start saving now,, you DO NOT have tyo buy it the day it goes on sale-- im avoiding even thinking anout it--- i figure it this way--- ill spend 30 cucks on shit i will never need--- i caould save thatmoney easy- i already have 320 set aside for my ticktes, and im doing just fine--- they wont run out of ticktes and its only JANUARY!!!!! i got 8 months to stress on tickets---
now if ppl complain about cheap tickets- i only wonder if they can survive the desert? hmmm---{glad i spent almost 14 years in the desert:))) 120 will feel like home to me

hold on hold on!!!!! i need some input-- when i do purchase my tickets--- which is the wiser route?---> but online, get them in the mail----- orrrrrrrr send a money order and get them in the mail--- i REFUSE to get WILL CALL tickets-- nope no way. im thinking maybe the money order is the way to go, (i have recently had problems using my bank card online-- and I do not want to go through false charge claims at the bank{ columbia house sucks!} --- plus i have read about people being charged twice and such--- hmmmm)--- what do you oldtimers do to get your tickets:)
hey neighbor to the north, for 9 years now I get the sent to me.. Then I give them to my wife and she puts them in a SAFE SPOT.. Then the day you head north, you pinch yourself and keep looking at the tickets knowing that in 6-7 hours you about to change your life.....

This just came in:
Please Take Notice
Your assistance in distributing this to
fellow burners is appreciated

From: BM LLC2 Ticketing Pixies
Ref: Special 2007 Ticketing Adjustments
Thank all of you who ordered your 2007 tickets
using our new online proceedures. Just about
everything went better than we could have hoped.
There was a small problem we overlooked.
Don't worry, if you ordered and received a
confirmation, you are all set. But, several
burners... not many mind you, had a difficulty
in ordering due to scale. We are now aware
of the problem, and have set up emergency
ticket proceedures at 1/87 th scale.
If you are a 1/87 th scale burner, please
follow the proceedures outlined in our new
page shown below. See you on the playa...
sorta.
Thanks
