Vegan Theme Camp?

Post by gkleinman » Tue Jan 23, 2007 5:53 pm

Since the theme of Burning Man this year is The Green Art. I though it might be fitting to do a Vegan Themed camp.

Just thought I'd see if there were other Vegans who did Burning Man and what people thought of the idea?

I've never been to Burning Man and am thinking of making 2007 my first year :)

Planet VEGA !?!?!?! So I will assume that Vincent and Vic will be there?

I'll listen for the distant strains of 'Stuck In The Middle With You' and muffled screaming.

Welcome to the sarcasm of the eplaya. Dont expect that to change once you arrive in BRC.

We hate you. Wow this is the most beautiful place in the Universe. Yes you can touch my ass. Get off my art car!!!

Anyway, a vegan camp would be less than a theme camp and more of a kitchen Im sure. I think there is talk of one already, there probably are a few. Best to look for people in your area that are vegan/interested in your area and then plan with them
Good luck and see you in the dust man!

Amazon,

Thanks for your post. Yeah I was taking the responses with a grain of sand er um er salt. Since I've never actually BEEN to BM I figured it was good to float this idea out and get some feedback... Thanks for giving constructive feedback.

So.. Being vegan at BM.. How did it go in previous years?

mdmf007-

Yes its my ass (and your ass too, as long as thats okay) but get off my fucking artcar!!!!

and gkleinman -

it was fine. Im vegan and therefore I just eat vegan. I cooked everyday, usually just cereal in the morning or fruit while it lasted (cold fruit cups are nice) and then stir fry or pasta or burritos in the evening. Whatever.

I had a nice setup with my friends. Mostly just me and two others using our stove. Nothing bigscale. Used the fresh stuff first and then canned stuff later in the week.

Remember too that the appetite is MAJORLY suppressed in the heat. Its HARD to eat. You have to force yourself. Fluids are your major energy supply. Water and Gatorade and juice. Tres importante!

Had lovely meals given to me on the playa too. Veganism doesnt seem to be a problem when you smile.

Cheers

Dandelions???

Let's make a dandelion patch! Check my rant in the "Rainforest" group.

I'm not sure where my idea will fit, but I'll be looking for a home for the patch.

I think a whole vegan camp with vegan/green art is a great idea and entirely possible to arrange. You're right that it fits in nicely with the theme this year too.

... Unfortunately, this is the first year in four years I won't be going to BM. It figures that when I finally really, really dig the theme I can't afford to go. blast!

Best of luck though, and let me know how it goes for my future burns!

Stumbled on the right thread...

Post by Lasers And Daring » Mon Feb 05, 2007 3:33 am

I too am of this consumer group. And would love more ideas of what to bring to eat. I immagine, if there were a somewhat organized "vegan camp", I would return to it often. Wonderful idea, because I don't cook to many others' satisfaction. Only self...

The art, I'm assuming, would be vegan-friendly as well? Perhaps more than friendly? I mean, Vegans are aloud to eat other Vegans, correct?

It is true that vegans taste different.

Vegan food is great.
Just add meat until you're happy with it.
I've actually started cooking that way, starting with vegetables first.
