Posting once in three months doesn't indicate much respect for the people holding things together the people who are here,.... I may not be one of them because I haven’t spent that much time posting either.

still no respect for Tisha or the bar.

Then rename the new one and stop disrespecting this one.

because the people of the other bar are the same people who where here in this one, and the history of this place is our history we owned it more than she did.

Why is that you dislike those of us in the new incarnation so much that the fading memory of what once was is better than what is now?

I think your right, I don’t tend to hold things as scared , that once played an important role in my life but don’t any longer, I’m more about looking to the future,..... I’ve had some great friends in my life, One a guy I knew as a kid and was an important friend all through High School now lives in the twin cities I used to see him about once a year, I haven’t seen him in maybe 3 years now. He was an important person who in part did a lot to help make me the person I am. but when we got together all we did was talk about the past. That can be fun for an evening every once in awhile but The past seemed to stay stuck in the past, it didn’t evolve as we each did in our own directions.. Our friendship didn’t reflect who we are now, so it isn’t much of a friendship really, is it. I don’t feel any great loss , I have new friends, great people who interact with who I am even as I change. The good and the bad of the past are still both the past I’ve found I’m better off owning them ,knowing every experience I’ve had have become a part of me, but focusing on them tends to close me off from being open to the Now and the possibilities of the future. So I don’t disrespect the past but I don’t hold it as sacred either.

(sliding the glasses forward...)

Interesting thing about past, present and future--

The theory that holds the best chance of meeting Einstein's Grand Unified Theory... the one that makes realtivity and Quantum Mechanics actually work together...(but that's another story)... is called Super String Theory. It is far too abstract to attempt to relate here.... but it has an odd mathematical side effect.

Sorta disturbing... or liberating, depending on one's point of view.

It tosses the old idea of linear time out the window... in fact... one of the things necessary for grand unification, as well as resolving timespace paradoxes.... is to forget the idea. If Super String Theory is correct... and it's kinda looking that way... Time and space is central... or radial.

There is no past...

There is no future...

Only a continuous... vibrating "now".

I said it was sorta disturbing.... or, is it liberating?

Though I find string theory interesting and the idea of unlocking the potential of time and dimensional travel really cool even if it’s just possible to accomplish with the imagination , the construct “if it is thatâ€

Yeah... Kaku said that the strong bias we have for seeing time as linear is the big barrier.

Seeing it that way is reinforced by things like memories (past), hope (future) etc. It's also comforting.... seems to make sense. But then, who says the universe cares a shit if it makes sense to us? Sorta funny really!

When ever the world gets sorta too funky... I break out my compendium of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's odd how the total absurdity of the ideas in there make "sense" to me more often than not.

I’ve heard super sting theory described by some physicists as more philosophy than science because there is no way to test it or observe it, but it is a pretty equation.

I tend to Believe it but on a philosophical level . I visualize the description of the two dimensional creatures represented as flat pieces of paper moving and living on one plane encountering a three dimensional creature represented as a glass of whiskey set on the bar. The two dimensional creatures only see the shape of the glass that is in contact with the plane. They do not experience the reality of the glass on the bar and it really blows there minds when I pick up the glass and down the whiskey and the disk they thought they knew just disappears,..... what was the question?......... can I have another drink?

Yes, Carl Sagan's analogy-- "Flat Land". It actually comes from a late night conversation between Neils B and Mr E., where they tried to reconcil each other's impossibly irreconcilable views... Relativity and Quantum Mech's.

Just recently, string theory got a major boost. It seems that although creating experients that recreate the conditions of SS Theory are likely not possible, turning the idea backwards might do something of the same--- in other words, working results backwards might show that there are "things" that although may not be observable, are in action.

Some recent experiments are yeilding mathmatical results.

Niels would be happy- afterall, it worked much that way for Q theory-- no actual Q particle has ever been actually observed... only results. The actual attempt to observe changes the factors.... but when the result was worked backwards, it became clear that "things" were at work. Today, Q physics is as accepted as relativistic physics. Both are known to be "true", what lacks is the understanding of why these two divergent truths actually coexisit without the universe falling apart... but they do, and it does not.

(reaches for another Vodka and OJ)

Interesting recent speculation--- that bridges R and Q... and fits with SS Theory... that at the center of every black hole is a singularity, right? An impossibly small object that cannot be observed-- that does not even occupy space or time... and that there are trillions of these buggers in the universe... and now it seems increasingly likely--super small Black Holes exisit too... everwhere... even in my cup of Vodka and OJ (I thought I was drinking that!!!!).... and that every singularity... everywhere is the same singularity. That every quantum particle is every other quantum particle (already visualized earlier in Q tunneling ideas). It is an elegant idea-- that Mr E's R Theory is the Macro Universe... Mr. B's theory is the Micro Universe... and that in order for both to exist, they might need to be exact infinity opposites.... super all big... super all small. One a universe of infinate matter and space... the other of ultimate finite small one-ness.

Shit! My cup is empty!!!!! The fucking little balck hole bastards are at it again!

To dismiss this past as if it is no longer relevant is also to dismiss the lessons we need to survive.

Well...it happened again, and again, and again... the technical blem that caused the creation of the Vol 2.... the "no posts exisit" thing again.

I think this thread is just gettin too dern full. Although, I hear that is not supposed to be possible, so what gives? Some say they never have any problems... others never seem to get back in. In order to get in here, I have to run circles half the time.

Interesting....

I'm having to back up more and more pages to look at posts--- this last time, the two most recent pages shown in the index say there are no new posts... but if I back up two pages... I see the recent posts.

it drives me nutz ,too, the page number flips 17 or so posts into a page , then when the accrual post count gets to 30 it rolls over to the next page catching up too the displayed page number . sure doesn’t seem like it would be an insurmountable problem to move the counter in sink with the post count but it’s all black magic to me,...

Hi Ya'll,
Hey DR. I would expect this of you, but I never thought you'd go about it this way. You cant go in our beloved back room and play in our history, then make a horrible accusation.
We simply are under construction in here, kinda how I like to look at it. We come back here and pull up an archive, tripping over tumbling bricks, no bathroom cause the plumbings broken.

So basically I kinda look at it this way, If you Owned a Great bar, but just couldnt spend enough time there, or worse for personal reasons, didnt want to run it anymore, You could only hope that the next residenses or who you dropped it in front of... didnt run it into the ground, or ignore it. But picked it up and ran with it, and continued the old values set forth from the original bar, to serve the people a damn drink, give them a elbow of your time, to truely enjoy your customers...but more... truely enjoy the family that they have become to you.

Starting THE Bar Volume 2, like duh...it says VOLUME 2 of what? like duh the BAR! part duex, second coming, next book, to be continued...

I keep getting this creepy feeling that if a person has a bad experience, they dont want anyone to have a good time?
Thats not what a bar is...its a place to go... hang your hat, mingle with old friends and NEW.... charise the fact that the most amazing thing happened in this bar....
That a bunch of people...made a virtual bar a reality!
A truely amazing thing happened! It was MOST AWESOME thing Ive personally been a part of. And when for what ever reason The major key player found out he wouldnt be attending burningman this year...
I couldnt leave the people with no EPLAYA BAR CAMP, that would be unfair...So I took it upon MYSELF, to rescue the idea, to KEEP it going.

We tried so hard to keep this techincal thread going too, but the admin says there no way to fix it...you know what tha means to me, that that damn door was so popular, it just needed a new door...So I built one.
Im not about laying around complaining something needs fixed, I get a f'ing hammer and fix it myself! Tisha2 wasnt around... and she couldnt have fixed the door anyway. MozY wasnt around, nor could he fix the door, nobody could fix the door on this side of the building...

SO I BUILT A DOOR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS DAMN BAR...geeze people...you can read...PLEASE USE OTHER DOOR the other one is out of service! You can come back in here and grab qoutes..etc... from old archives. But being a great bar depends on having people in it!!!
The broken door was preventing that from happening.

I would like to say this, amongst all the other shit I just said...
I love this bar! Im not willing to let it go!
THIS BAR MEANS MORE TO ME THEN ANY F'ING PERSON COULD POSSIBLY KNOW! But new door in the same building aint changing shit! A key hangs on the wall in VOL 2 to this entrance so to speak, the old bar flys know where to come to get old conversations. the new bar flys, kinda gotta sit down and meet the old ones, their truely only gonna get part of what we all did in here...made fantasy a reality.
There's only a few of us left, hoping with spring, everyone will crawl outa their caves and do the great Migration...but it sure helps to have a round wheel to haul your shit out to Burningman with...could you imagine a wheel that was rusty and failing off the bar while trying to get it out past Gerlach? back HOME!

I said I would uphold the bar....and thats what I did... am still doing!
I promised myself not to let the bar die...and I didnt!
I made a new door, comfortable and inviting...what the bar was all about...right? I even didicated it to the original maker, when people misunderstood the new door. But apparently that didnt work either. So for those of you who wanna hang out in here, toe'ing the ashs or dwelling...were all on the other side of this VERY same bar, having a great time...PLEASE, come over, play with the bar peeps, some old some new.

Ive said my peace, NOW GET OFF MY ASS! Roll with the times...baby!
One way or another EBC will be on the playa!
And I dont wanna hear Eplaya bar Camp isnt yours, the hell it isnt! Its mine and yours and hers and his and thiers. Its everybodies bar! Thats whats its design was, to be a place where you could come in sit down and somebody would say "WHAT WILL IT BE?"

the funny thing is on the Vol.#2 of this very bar was opened with this as its opener...did the people who resent Vol#2 not read this...sad I had to go over there and qoute it, when we should be coming in here and grabbing great qoutes from yester-year to post over there!!!!!!!!!
the ONLY thing wrong with this part of the bar is the door broken, thats all!

...well lets see if this FLY's...or Flunks....

This is just to help with the last page missing in action frustration that makes everyone NOT wanna you Eplaya to play! Not ANY other MOTIVE at ALL so Please dont think that!!!!!!

Welcome back...Eplaya bar thread Volume # TWO

Isnt that sad, bitchers and complainers are so stuck on the fact "I" opened the NEW thread.

That would be simular to your sitting on the side of the road, flat tire, no spare, and I drive up take you to the nearest town, I BUY you a gently used re-tread tire that would get you all the way home, help change it, bang my knuckles bloody, and in the end ALL you can say is "I wish you would have bought NEW tire for me, cause now they dont match!"

Its just not the burner way to "OWN" something. The burner way is to do something to help, just not sit and ignore something that needs a fixin'!

I can stop posting in this thread if it will make you feel better Pinemom.
...But I`m afraid you are taking this too personally.
I appreciate the fact that you took the innitiative to start part 2, and I even stop in there occasionally, and even though I can`t spend a lot of time on the board I really like to keep up with the "characters" there. And if *I* have somehow lead you to believe that I resent YOU for anything that you`ve posted or planned here on eplaya, well Nothing would be so far from the truth. You might want to go back and re-read and find the posts that are personally blaming or YOU for something. I think that you will find that there aren`t any...unless there is something I`ve missed. I know you are proud of the new place and we are too.
I was just going to keep my mouth closed about this, but I just feel like you are suffering from hurt feelings about this(from what you`re posting) and I hate to see that go on, because from what I can tell online, You are a really sweet person. If it`s something I said, please accept my apologies. I tend to shoot my mouth 1st and ask myself why later sometimes...

I hope this helps PM, and if it doesn`t, please accept yet another apology.
And I`m serious.
I`ll stop posting in here if it means that much to you.

Your Fan,
EDB

It is my opinion that several of the bumps on this thread are just tests to see if the bug ever gets fixed. I doubt those bumps are intended to cause hard feelings, it is just more of a game. Maybe someday the bug will get fixed and we will have two doors into the bar. I think that would be great, two conversations could be going on with everybody being able to monitor both, but the threads would be less confusing. Just my humble opinion for what it is worth.
