Man's inability to transform waste

Are the Porta-Potties adequate enough or should I bring one of those little " my little dump cans?"

Matter of opinion. I haven't had too much trouble, but even when we're right next to the potties, which is often, we keep an emergency loo in camp.

I'm planning on picking up one of these, but probably from Sportsman Guide. The listed site has a much better description but a really high price.

The tent enclosure doubles as a shower stall too.

Its a little pricey, but I'll use it for more than just Burning Man.

we have one of these:

http://www.cabelas.com/vprod-1/0009518.shtml

add a liner and some chems and you're good to go. Doesn't have an enclosure, we tuck it back between the tent and the carport sidewall. For super-duper emergency use only, and in conjunction with the garden sprayer, as a bidet.

I would bring it as a back up, oh my god why did I eat that, toilet.

The enclosure is optional, but seems like a good idea to get it and the carry bag/pack for the system. Aspects of my job can leave me in fairly remote locations for long periods of time, so having something like this as a grab and go and put it in the trunk would be better for me anyway. Plus, it'd be a tax write-off. :)

I also like the fact that the waste bags are self contained and landfill certified per EPA and do not require any chemicals.

Louise and I have always used the portapotties. One year they had someone steal a pumper truck and things got kinda foul every once in awhile, but overall we've had no complaints. On the other hand, having a backup is _always_ the plan at Burning Man. If you never use it, fine. If you do, fine.

I've never had a problem walking to the port-a-potties. Many people do use jugs or buckets of various sorts if they have difficulty moving around or just don't want to take the long walk in the morning, but it's certainly not a requirement. Personally, I'd rather just keep the waste in my body until I'm in a portapottie instead of putting into a jug and dealing with disposing it.

I've always kept the first water jug that I empty on the playa as a "standby chamberpot"...Obviously, only good for #1. And keep the lid handy, so that it can be used as a waste-grease, smoked-oyster-oil, coffee grounds and other wet-and-nasty-waste container to be sealed and carted off to an appropriate resting place. Be sure to keep that cap on, and keep out of the sun.

Yep, ours is for, wow! here it comes!

I've used it a lot more often when I was riding along in the semi. Potty stops are quite the production in a 75 foot rig, as are bathroom runs at 3 a.m. across a freezing dark and scary truckstop lot.

Yep, I have not figured out why they chuck them out the window, invariably on an on or off ramp near truckstops and rest areas where there are plenty of trashcans. Mylarry always put his in the trash. Like I said, 3 a.m. in the freezing cold is not when you want to get dressed and head through parked semis in a bumpy potholed lot to go to a restroom of unsavory reputation, dodging the lot lizards who have their radar set for "warm body." Doesn't even have to be a male warm body, as I once heard on the CB (female voice) "Everybody likes pussy."

(Alright, the female voice may have been mine, but dang, did that she-lizard holler for an hour trying to find the lady truck who wanted a goodtime.)

Nope, not off topic one little bit.

The amount of pee jugs ont he road is so bad that there is a decline in people doing the "adopt a highway program" from it. Going out and picking up litter is one thing, but when you have to pick up, jugs of rotted urine, bottles of tobacco spit, diapers, tampons, and maxi pads - it gets to be a chore instead of your contibution to keeping it clean.
