I am certain some here will be glad that I will no longer be able to procreate -

Anyone have a Vasectomy experience they want to share?

Pre-surgery.
1 Remain calm.
2. For a treat, shave your own balls.
3.Accept and take any drugs offered by the friendly medical staff.

During surgery. Meh...not in your control, so why worry? Right?

Post surgery.

2. 2 bags of frozen peas will seem like Heaven. Alternate frozen pea bags between freezer and tender balls.
3. Careful scratching when the balls get itchy from new hair growth.

Frozen peas are not optional--trust me. Going without truly sucks.
Do not use an electric razor to shave your scrotum, and they'll probably still do it when you get there.
Don't be alarmed by the smell of your own flesh burning. It's a bit un-nerving, but at the time you really don't feel it.
Don't have any kind of sexual activity that involves your groin for at least a week. Really. If the urge comes to you, just grab the frozen peas and turn on C-SPAN.
Don't pull or pluck at the stitches.

Don't be surprised when all is said and done, when you do get frisky, you'll end up with the worst case of blue balls you've ever had in your life. This, too, shall pass.

Thanks to Burning Man I've been shaving my Scrotum (ugly word) for years. Went to the doctor today and he was impressed with my shaved Scrotum (ewww.) He gave me a prescription for 1 valium to take 30 minutes before cut time. I am assuming that I will at least get a script for Vicadin or the such.

I have heard of the frozen pea idea. I will be sure to stock up. So do you through them away afterwards? They will be in the plastic bag!

I had this op around 1983. My wife already had two girls from another marriage and had health reasons not to get pregnant.

The good news is that it was never actually painful. It was a bit sore and achey for about a week afterwards. I did not need the pain meds. Complete healing took about a month, which was a bit more than I expected. It also took about that long to feel comfortable with sex.

The real benefit came with both my wife and I feeling less worry about potential pregnancy. So I think that it helped us a lot in the long run, and we will be married 24 years in May.

I got mine just around the time that Viagra came out.. A lot of Viagra jokes were being told then. So between the Doc the Nurse and I, we had a good time telling jokes. It keep an otherwise awkward time a good time...

Don't lift anything for 5 days or so... I was told that by someone who lifted his kid up to his lap and hurt himself..

Its done in the office and doesn't take long to do. As mentioned frozen pea bags are best for relief. Little to no pain for 3 weeks after the op. Pills aren't really necessary for pain postop since there is very little. You may wind up really tired for a day or so afterward. I wound up sleeping for like 12 hours right afterward. Consider getting a ride home from someone afterward, you may not be able to drive. You might want to consider having some of your troops frozen for future use as well. Not sure of your age but I know docs don't like to do it to younger guys under 30. It did not affect my sexual prowess at all.. if anything it made us more active in the sack.

Highly recommended. Had mine 30 years ago, so I don't remember details, but I'm pretty sure the discomfort was minor. Oh yes, highly recommended.

Had mine 25 years ago. Donâ€™t remember any pain. I would not hesitate to have it done again.

I go in to get mine done and the doc gives me a shoot of valium and I am fucked up.
So I am laying there on my back and I just started to laugh out load. Of course he wants to know what is so funny.
I said to him, â€œyou know I am laying here on my back with my dick taped to my belly and a man I hardly know is getting ready to go at my genital with a scalpelâ€¦â€¦and I donâ€™t even careâ€

i got snipped three years ago right before x-mas as a present to self.

DO NOT HAVE SEX OR MASTURBATE FOR A FEW DAYS AFTERWARDS!!!

I had eggplant purple balls after I did that...didn't help that my girlfriend was riding my ass because I wasn't putting out.

-Ice packs are required, but not often.
-It doesn't hurt very bad at all.
-Have someone take pics (wish I did!)
-Get boxer briefs...you need support the first couple of days
-take it easy, no running or squats for a bit
-TAKE IN YOUR SAMPLE CUP WHEN THEY TELL YOU! (seriously, I heard from PP that around 65% of men do not return to see if they are sperm free!)
-Avoid porn and booty for a bit

And THANK YOU for choosing to not procreate. Too many fucking people on this planet already. Enjoy your new freedom, and REMEMBER to get your sperm count checked!!!

yes, in just the family and friends stories about sperm counts...I have 3 individuals i know whom had the Vasecetomy... and still had children after that....things grow back sometimes...
...one family had the unfortunate event of him getting snipped...woops another child...so she got tied...and yet another child...luckily or unlucky...not sure, she ended up need hysto...so they finally were able to rest assured it wouldnt happen again.

Okay it's done.

It wasn't really that bad and so far not much pain or swelling. The Valium was great but I didn't get any post traumatic meds. Honestly I am not sure that I need any but it would have been nice.

3 days of rest and then shoot 14 times before I take in a sample.
