Jammin' camp

I have a vision for a camp where musicians sit around and jam in a dome and there's a pile of extra instruments and maybe a little stage in the center for dancing. I'm not talking a mere drum circle, although of course there should be drums -- I'm talking about guitars, keyboards, xylophones, tamborines, jingle bells, harmonicas, etc. I envision a few musicians in the camp and an open invitation to other burners to participate. I envision doing this during the day when the shade is welcome and the partying is scarce. Anyone seen or done anything like this before? Is it a viable idea? Thanks for any input!

Should be a viable idea. I'd think you'd just need a welcoming environment and some people to start the jammin'.

Some places have done this to some degree.
This is a great idea.

As many musicians as we have at burning man, there is no excuse for canned music and no need for large venues.

OBOP (Ojai Bureau of Pleasure) hosts a dedicated live music space on the Esplanade that would welcome your energy! Last year we had a medium sized circus tent set up with a sound system, drum kit, hand drums, and a BABY GRAND piano...great things happened... monday, thursday, and friday really hopped with playa folk; late nights were also great- one night we had this amazinng pianist who could play ANYTHING- Live Karaoke, anyone?- til 6 o'clock in the morning...Awesome...PM me if you're interested...j

I think there's a few people doing stages like that with varrying degrees of infrastructure and participation. HOTD (Hair Of The Dog) comes to mind.

It can be really cool if you create an inviting space and are able to draw people in.

The BOOBY BAR will have a dedicated BOOB to these types of Ideas...and others. One BOOB/Dome is a Bar and the other free SPACE/Lounge........

I like the sound of the musical jammin' camp better than the boysenberry jammin' camp. Although, one sounds fun and the other sounds delicious and a little painful, especially if its not seedless.

Sounds like a great idea! I happened upon a jazz bar around 9 o'clock and something last year, and it was such a treat! Actual incredible live music?!
