How do I go about signing up with a camp??

First let me start that -
I love you all ! and I am soooo happy my tickets for the 2007 burn are in!

Secondly, I would like to sign up with a camp this year. Anythoughts about how to do that????

IMO the best way for you to go about that would be to go to regionals and when you meet people that you get along with, they might ask you to camp with them.

It really depends on what you're looking for. Why do you want to sign up with a camp in the first place?

...first you must locate a camp and talk to them. This is best done pre-burningman, but can be done "on-the-fly" when you arrive if you are not too picky. Most states have a "regionals" group, which is nothing more than burners from that state that do things throughout the year. If you get in touch with your regional coordinator, they can put you in touch with some folks from your area. By getting to know them now, you can both help prepare the camp and decide if you really want to camp with them. Some camps are more open to new-comers than others. Be prepare to demonstrate your sincereity by attending meetings and work parties, and if accepted in the camp be prepared to share camp expenses (typically $50-$200 depending on camp size and theme). In any event, bring extra stuff like alcohol, mixers, bacon, sunblock, etc.

Now is the right time to start thinking about this - most camps are "full" by june or so. Good luck!

To answer a few questions, I wanted to sign up with a camp just to simply "help" put my community together. I LOVE BURNING MAN, the people and alll that comes with it. So, I wanted to add my love to where ever i can.

AND last year, I was camped out on the out skirts (still amazingly beautiful) but very far from the esplanade.

If anyone knows of the South FLA burners network, please send them my way.

Were a camp...wanna join? were not from Florida, but we have campers from Kentucky, tennesee, London england...etc...miles are realitive..
Lorgasm and Zoom are from Florida, thye dont camp with us...but they spend alot of time with us.

I'm in Miami Beach but have had little luck with the regionals since I am not female. If you don't mind the trolls in charge of FL regionals than you will probably get a warm welcome there. I got alot of themecamp info from the burningman website and the playadust website. Being female you should have very little trouble finding a themecamp. Your best bet might be to get in touch with folks on here that post about their themecamps. Some are already starting to post looking for participants. Welcome and I hope you find a good camp that suits your desires.

You don't have to join a camp to find places to help out.
There are always places with space anyway.
I showed up at one camp.
I said give me tools and show me what to do.
And they did.

I only found one place that didn't need help in two weeks.
Too organized.

well, 2 things! one - I have fake tatas... does that X me out of the equation?? and 2- I went to burning man last year and im going with this year a 27 year old friend that had breast cancer, both boobs removed, now new "fakeys" put in with no nipples. i think she would make an eggselent addition. no?

they don't start recruiting for a few months. You will work if you sign up with them - they provide gourmet bbq and need a huge staff to pull it off (cooks, wait staff, massage artists, DJs, etc). It basically is a restraunt (but not for the public - although they do handout free bbq sandwiches for lunch every day). You will eat very well (assuming you like meat). A great group of people, but they work way to hard IMHO. I love'em though.
