What to do with a golf cart.....
So. I have this golf cart at my office we haven't used for over a year.
I'm already driving the Dodge Yacht out, so throwing on a trailer and bringing the cart would not be that much of a problem.
However, I have limited artistic abilities and any artsy golf cartness cladding would either have to survive the 2000 mile drive on the trailer at 70ish mph or be compact enough to be stored and attached on site.
Hmmmmm.....

You will get lots of people saying that a golf cart is not an art car. Fuck 'em. It is an art car if you make it NOT look like a golf cart. The key phrase is "radically altered".
Be sure you read the regulations from the DMV about safety, especially if you plan to drive it at night. We try to not drive ours after dark at all any more. I have tons of el-wire, headlights and 2 yellow construction flashers and STILL have people walk or ride right into us.
Our golf cart-based art cart does go down the freeway on it's trailer and we get a lot of happy people waving and laughing all along the way. It's just a happy fringe benefit. Bicycles, water bottles and an 11" zebra - everyone KNOWS where we are headed.

It is a gas powered golf cart.
As for lighting, I have a storage garage full of police lightbars, take down lights, wig wags, spots, traffic sticks and access to really cheap led lightbars in a myriad of colors.
The new led bars are fucking burn out your retinas bright.
But, it would probably see most of its use during the daylight hours.
And yes, I would need to read all of the DMV rules and regulations before ever embarking on doing this. I was at the office today and had the whole..."Ya know...that golf cart would be interesting as a roving Easter Island tiki..." whcih led to a thousand army men fighting an epic battle against dinosaurs and nuns...and other general silliness.

Any chance you can hook others up with your same deal?
You could probably make a frame out of EMT and chicken wire, then make your "skin" head out of plaster. Give it a final coat of the granite looking fleck paint. Bring your supplies, because it will probably get damaged while moving it. I'm guessing you'd look out of the mouth. You can shield that with a black mesh during the day and take it off at night for the effect. Flame looking lights would be best IMO. There are a number of different ways to create that.that golf cart would be interesting as a roving Easter Island tiki

Make it into a clown cop/BLM car.. Get stuff from a party favor store.. Wear a fright wig and a nose.. Black nose.. Tell people you partied to hard and the nose burned out..You can do traffic stops on party barges..Capt. goddamit's boat would be a great target...Hell, I'll mail ya a clown vest to get you started.. Your an artist and don't know it..Less camp more fun fun fun
EXCELLENT IDEA!! An art car to pull over other art cars. I'm sure that would get approved as long as its "playa-worthy" and many will thinks its a riot. Even some of the authorities will be sure to get a laugh or two.unjonharley wrote:Make it into a clown cop/BLM car.. Get stuff from a party favor store.. Wear a fright wig and a nose.. Black nose.. Rotator lights, etc., are acceptable IF AND ONLY IF they are not of a color that will get them mistaken for a genuine emergency vehicle at a distance. Red, blue, amber are a definite no-go.CapSmashy wrote:As for lighting, I have a storage garage full of police lightbars, take down lights, wig wags, spots, traffic sticks and access to really cheap led lightbars in a myriad of colors.

Look to the Ambiance Ambulance as your guide. Go for a color scheme that has absolutely NOTHING to do with emergency services. Lime green and fuschia, anyone?unjonharley wrote:\/PurpleKoosh wrote:Rotator lights, etc., are acceptable IF AND ONLY IF they are not of a color that will get them mistaken for a genuine emergency vehicle at a distance. Just because it isn't specifically writtent does not for a minute mean that the issue won't be pressed between EDS, Rangers and the BRC DMV.The whole lightbar thing and looking like an emergency vehicle comes from the FEDS its not a B-man rule.
If it's confused as a response vehicle then changes will be required although in all likelyhood the registration process will insure that it doesn't get that far.

But really ambiance ambulance sounds fun & great...like purple,pinks, blues.
Have a big RED heart with a white (redcross) cross in front.
Write the word "AMBIANCE" back word on the front..
```````ECNAIBMA`````````
well if ya flip the letter right, that would have looked cooler!
maybe "Amore" on the back ...maybe even backwards...
~~~~~EROMA~~~~~~
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

I think green lights, given the theme, would be especially overplayed.
As for the whole lightbar issue. I already figured running red and blues was a non-issue. I also totally understand and support them limiting amber lights to official vehicles to avoid confusion.
I can work with purple and green.

Alas...my plans have been foiled by the fiscal responsibility demons.
The big boss of the company (my dad) has deemed the golf cart to be a valuable, yet unrealized for over a year, company asset and as it has been an unrealized asset for so long, it should now be converted into a realized asset (cash) once again before further depreciation sets in upon it further decreasing its unrealized value.
I put up a valiant fight to stop such action from happening, but it was to no avail. I think I lost him when I mentioned transforming it into a giant Easter Island Tiki head with thousands of tiny army men battling glow in the dark zombies on every available surface.
I knew my cause was lost when I got the fatherly stare of "WTF?" and the obligatory "Are you high on something?"...
<sigh>
Its probably best that I don't mention the pink tutu, rainbow knee socks and rubber chicken nightstick bouncer uniform for the Booby Bar.
He'd probably have me committed for observation...or worse, occupy my day with more duties and responsibilities... the horror of it all....

Aw man, what a rotten stroke of luck! I thought it sounded like a really cool idea.
(Maybe I'm lucky-- my dad can't say too much about my choice of costumes and such, considering some of the stuff HE has dressed up as for the Hash House Harrier runs!

If that was directed to me, I've already suggest going to BM to my dad, but he doesn't want to go to the desert during the summer. Besides, I'd just as soon not spend the week avoiding him....mojo wrote:So...invite him to come to the playa. It's always worth a try.

Actually, what I really want is a kilt! And the rest of the Scotsman outfit, darn it! (I need to get another job. Got a bunch of purchases to make... and to decide what to get first!)

Actually, I used to know of a place online which had inexpensive kilts in a wide variety of color combinations and patterns. I wonder if I can find them again?AntiM wrote:Kilt? Ebay buddy, ebay. Or go to the thrift store, find a plaid skirt and terroize it into a custom kilt.
Hmmmm. I think I need to log off and get a nap now...., spacing out at the keyboard.
