That happened to a friend of mine.
Guy was trying to catch women in the shower.
Who knows what this was building up to?

She poked him gently with something very sharp.
He may have lost enthusiasm for surprises now.
They got his lung working again though.

You outta rig up a camera to see who it is. Then it can go to America's Funniest Home Videos or something afterwards....

I almost took a criminal charge for having some juice hooked up to my Mustang when I was a kid. If memory serves my dad had to kiss some ass and possible grease a blue palm to keep me from gettin charged. I think it was an assault charge and I was about 14 or 15. I was still working on the car gettin it ready to roll when I turned 16, the door was still fucked an someone was slowly rippin off interior parts. First the seats, than the dash, than I wanted their ass to die. Now I am just into beating the crap outta them.

You gotta be careful with certain self protection of property measures, some places criminals have more rights than honest folk. Personally I think you should be able to use bear traps, plywood with nails facing up under windows etc etc. If they can't figure its wrong to break into someones pad than fuck em.

Legal self defense can get you charged anyway.

Usually if it is a non-lethal device it isn't a problem.
Razor wire is legal and is potentially deadly.
I have used nailboards with some success and I know someone who used them under a window and they worked well enough to send the guy to the hospital where he was arrested.

There are some foot traps where your weight powers the device.
Like a finger trap with teeth.

I like triple barb fish hooks.
There are many sizes.
Loop them on line and tie the line to something that can't leave.

I know someone who used the larger ones and caught someone on a fence climbing over.
They were stuck.
Safer than concertina wire.

Is it possible that an innocent person could touch the dead bolt and receive a shock? Could a child walk by and perhaps be injured?

One option if you can't change the lock is to alarm the door.
If they ask for the code, keep changing it.
I would do that anywhere I don't have the only key.

Email me if you need any help.
Use a loud signal device inside and not just a siren.

If they wont let you change the lock, then why not just add another.
If they wont let you do that the whole place sounds corrupt and you might look into suing.

Thats basically what the cops advised me when I had juice hooked up to my car. I am not sure about the legality in Ore. Some states allow to you protect your property per the US Constitution and some states have given criminals free reign over the populace(victims).

As far as deadbolts go.. they are useless, if someone wants to get into your place deadbolts are easy to pick. Those fancy finger scan locks are easy to bypass too.

The top of the line kwikset which now has 6 pins.
I can't remember the model.
Get one that has a keyed lock on both sides.
Take all keys with you when you leave.
If you want to have fun, leave keys around that don't match the lock.
Thieves are known to come in and search for keys to carry stuff out.
It is reasonable and can easily be made pick proof.

One of the best is medeco and there are others.
If it is a commercial door, using a medeco can be reasonable.
Other cases, it is an expensive lock.
So whats the best locking mechanism for a standard apartment door?
i use any unbared window for an entrance and only use the door as an exit. only way to combat this would be to have a keyed bolt on both sides of the door which would not allow exit with all of your stuff. there is also a door alarm that hangs on the door knob and senses door motion and lets out a blistering screech. only costs a few bucks, battery operated.

pin and tumblers are useless and heres why

You want a lock that doesn't use that outdated key style.. the key is where the lack of security is. There are like 20 videos on youtuibe and whatnot showing just how easy a criminal can bypass deadbolts with crappy keys. I recommend Abloy type keyed locks or rectangular keyed type locks.. tubluar type keys are OK but not as good.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/25/the- ... re-part-2/

If you google "abloy deadbolt" you will find somewhere you can get this great key style. I would post here but don't want to post commerce links. I use abloy and find it the be the best type of key out there. You will not be able to pick an abloy with bobby pins or paperclips.

And I can get past it in about 30-40 seconds.. and I'm not even a thief. A pro can beat 6 pins in about 10-15 seconds sometimes even less. I saw a locksmith do it once in 8 seconds.

If you file the pins in the middle,
you can make the lock jam when a pick is used.
It is rare for a thief to use a pick these days outside of a hotel or the high rent districts.
Portable high speed saws are very easy to get.
The tilted pins in the medeco are a bit harder as are the notched keys.
My car has ten pins in the lock.

Every lock should be backed up by an alarm anyway.

Please don't install a deadbolt with a key inside the house. Should the house catch on fire, that missing or lose key could cause DEATH.
Filing taxes is not truely voluntary!

You do need a key in the lock when you're at home.
I'm hoping this won't be a glass windowed door.
You should have tools for fire escape by the bed anyway.
A pipe will clear the glass out of most window frames in seconds.

The key should leave with you.

If I go on a trip I leave a set of old keys in the door that are the same brand but don't fit any locks.
I also put deadbolts on interior doors.
This approach has made burglars give up and leave the way they came.

Fire dept. advise to put your key in the inside lock while you are home..Two sided locks are used when there is a window near or in the door..

The case I'm talking about is low income housing run by the church..When my friend complained. She was told: she would have to get along or move out..She is not well..I drive 100 mile round trip a couple times a month..I vaccume the house and clean..She break bones in her hands if she runs the vac..On top of that she has the same centeral nerves system desease as I.. Stress realy messes things up..

I just dare any one to complain about getting knocked on the ass..I'll take the rapp for it..Just after I kick some ones ass around the block..

I'm not clear what your friend complained about.

I think every door should have double cylinder locks for the reasons mentioned.
If there is concern that someone can't manage to escape in a fire with a keyed lock, you have to consider a latch on the inside.

\/ My friends main complant is: Every time she leaves her home some one has gone in and removed items.. I showed her how to put a hair in the door way..Most thing that are missing were items in temperary storage..In boxs in closets..She has a shoes off home.. Large muddy foot prints..I went down there to get in the Bishops face..She stopped me for fear of being put out in the street..I'm about at my wits end too..

Sorry.
I did realize you were talking about the problem you first posted.
What about the fence supply?

I would document everything with the police and change the locks and if they give you trouble, claim it is necessary, which it is.
They are responsible for all theft under these circumstances.
Remind them of that.

Do the paperwork.
Send copies to the church by mail with a return receipt.
I would send a copy to the news people and note that on the letters, but that's me.

Document everything.
Pictures, film if possible.
Everything.

If you catch one of those folks, usually the rest leave you alone.
Can you borrow a hidden camera?
Maybe the tv station would help for a story?
You can get a cheap one with memory for $100.
Low quality though.

Any chance of leaving someone inside secretly, while making a show of taking your friend somewhere?

Making an effort to mark ALL property permanently can make it not worth the trouble to steal.
Industrial paint markers are good, as is engraving and a rubber stamp.

I usually mark my tools with "Stolen From (my name)" .. stopped people in the shop from permanently borrowing my tools.

Sounds like unjons friend is in a shitty situation. Aside from local laws it may be legal for a privately held location like that to require the ability to enter. Sounds like its run kinda like a halfway house, no privacy or security and more than likely no lease. I would try to get her out of there ASAP and somewhere a little more professional and honest.
