Going Ape

Post by Bin Noddin » Thu Feb 22, 2007 8:36 pm

This is both fascinating and a little scary. Fascinating that its the females who are out in front like this. Are we seeing an evolutionary step? Dare we turn our backs on a chimp? Are they preparing to take over when we've done making a total mess of things?
For First Time, Chimps Seen Making Weapons for Hunting
By Rick WeissWashington Post Staff Writer

Chimpanzees living in the West African savannah have been observed fashioning deadly spears from sticks and using the tools to hunt small mammals -- the first routine production of deadly weapons ever observed in animals other than humans.
The multistep spearmaking practice, documented by researchers in Senegal who spent years gaining the chimpanzees' trust, adds credence to the idea that human forebears fashioned similar tools millions of years ago.

 That was a kind of scary discovery! We must stop this research! Knowledge brings fear!

How dare they try to better themselves. Next they're gonna want to make fire to cook their food. Eventually we may have to invade and look for weapons of mass destruction. This MUST be stopped!

Too late.

The smartest monkeys are the Bonobos.

This has already been a topic so far on my tribe:

It's on how much dumber Bush is than Bonobos.

How Ironic is that?

But is Bush actually human? I've always thought he looked more like a chimp..., or maybe something a little further down the evolutionary ladder. :?

Then, grasping the weapons in a "power grip," they jabbed them into tree-branch hollows where bush babies -- small, monkeylike mammals -- sleep during the day.
So there you have it. It takes a "power grip" to get rid of Bush, baby.
