They have been forgotten.. and they are probably going to get convicted. They haven't exactly been to sensible when being questioned. It sucks but these guys are probably going to get some time. The more I find out about this case the more I see these guys getting screwed. Not because they initially did anything wrong, but because they constantly have fuxored with the powers that be. At one point I felt bad for these 2 but now after seeing them interviewed and finding out about how they were so excited that Boston thought they were real bombs I am having less and less sympathy. THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT BOMBS! Granted Boston was overreating. That does not justify filming the bomb tech and than cracking jokes about how "cool" it is that they are overreacting. At that point they had a civic duty to advise that they were art and not bombs. As disgusted as I am that our country is being led by fear propaganda I am disgusted to find out that this guy did NOT alert authorities what they were. That is just as disgusting.. letting bomb techs run around letting the city get all fuxored up. I think that is why they are going to take a conviction in this.fromMA wrote:I cant speak for Emily but from what I know, nothing has been decided. I could be wrong but theres been notihing about it in the local news and Im hoping that it will all be forgotten as far as the 2 artists go.

Forgotten as in since their interview about haircuts from the 70s they have had no media coverage down here in S. Florida. The one time they had a chance to speak to the world they wanted to talk about hair. Granted they were advised not to discuss the case specifics but they could have talked about the culture of fear in America instead of afros and hair grease. Personally if I were in their shoes I would have used the oppurtunity to bring to light that we are being forced to fear everything for little to no reason. Channel 7 news here in Miami is great for spreading fear.. killer bees, killer escalotars etc etc.

Re: !
That sounds like Channel 5 here, nicknamed "Crack TV". If it bleeds it leads, etc. Moving on I feel the guys squandered their opportunity with the media...there's a time and place for being cute and that was certainly not it.Toolmaker wrote:Channel 7 news here in Miami is great for spreading fear.. killer bees, killer escalotars etc etc.

sorry, i was away on business/visiting family for a couple of days.
here's what i understand. i'm not in regular communication with sean over this, (and i assume he can't really talk about it much) as we hardly get to see each other in real life now that i live on the other side of our state.
the city of boston and tbs came to a $2millon agreement but the charges against sean and peter have NOT been dropped. their court date is set for early march, i believe.
i posted because i feel it's a shitty situation for any artist/contractor to be caught in and yes, i was interested to see how others felt. i thought people might be interested in giving their opinions to the officials who should listen which is why i provided the telephone numbers to call.
i appreciate the calls that have been made and am sure sean and peter would too. i don't even know if they know about this thread and it doesn't matter to me if they do.
IMO, sean's a great guy and an amazing artist who doesn't deserve to have federal terrorism charges brought against him for putting up art contracted by a huge media network for a lousy 300 bucks.
eta: they were released on bail shortly after the arrest. the court date is the next big thing. march 7 rings a bell, but i can't verify that.

at least they will get a court hearing and not lock up in Guantanamo without representation.
Though as stupid as it was that the signs were taken as a bomb threat, a few humble words at the press meeting would have gone along way.
It will be an expensive case for everyone, but I see no jail time or even a conviction. Intent will be hard to establish and that's the only case they have against them if it makes it into an actual court. A plea bargain can be negotiated but turner has paid estimated expensive of several million. City has been compensated!
On another note- marketing campaigns have to be approved by the companies marketing heads if this was, then I see a lawsuit against turner by the Gorillas if they aren't included in the deal.
Thank Emily for letting us know that the gorillas are BMr's- I will make the call.

The authorities blew up two of the CD players AFTER the clergy had removed them?!? If they were bombs, I would think that they would have gone off WHEN they were pulled from the pew bottoms....
Oh well, at least they had the sense to keep the third one for clues....
I think that the prank would have been more amusing if the recorded voices were "Messages from God", directing people to have their cars washed, or to quit their jobs and pursue lives as wandering hermits, or some other weird commands. Probably some young teenagers, with nothing better to do.

Just when you thought MA cops were the most retarded in the US, along comes NM. Has high school education gone that far down the toilet that cops are this friggin stupid. Not to say its cool to fuck with churches but cmon its just an act of bad taste. They'll get prints and the kid will fry for commiting a hate crime, act of terrorism, and who knows what else. I say cane the kid that did it and be done with it.. than cane the bomb tech for being a tard.

Hey Toolmaker
I deeply resent you now saying that the MA cops are not the most retarded in the US anymore. I disagree....they still hold the record.
For your comic relief heres another marketing stunt that Boston went nuts yesterday:

No I must support our cops, they are the most stupedester of them all!
Yeah, they're number one, unless you have to go number 2.
With all the power that police have once they make the squad, you think they they should have more then a two year degree.
I hear some states still have six week courses.
Is this true?

High traffic area are the best places to place advertising: Think Times Square! Lots of people and also the best place to put your bomb!mdmf007 wrote:Looks to be a shitty situation.
The devices were placed in position that would be consistent with the placement of a bomb. i.e. subways, bridges, tunnels, buildings - places where people congregate.
Still Boston was the only city that went off the deep end.
And since when do bomber try to attract attention before their devices go off then would reduce the 100% kill factor?
Unless they are really sick!

Eh, I'm not in the mood to comment one way or the other on whether or not they are artists. How on Earth am I supposed to decide what is or is not art?!?helitack wrote:I'm sorry but maybe I missed something. Are people still calling these people artists?
I'm just here to comment on how overblown the reaction of Boston was to the incident-- and how overly frighten we here in the U.S. of A. have allowed ourselves to get.
Well, shoot. It's about bedtime.
Good night, folks!
