TBI-Traumatic Brain Injury on Nightline
They did a show last night about Bob Woodruff's survival and recovery so far.
It is being rerun on abc news so you might catch it.
It may be on the net.
It is very well done.

I couldn't listen to the Fresh air after about 15 minutes. Scott was in a coma (11 days) on the first anniversary of the day we met. It was too mcuh for me. He had some sort of brain issues afterwards, but it wasn't "tramatic," at least I don't think so.
I miss him. He defied death so often. My arms are empty.

What is fresh air?
Traumatic refers to the way you get injured.
Falling down or hitting a windshield is a traumatic injury.
Often the damage can result in a stroke, especially if untreated.
I'm sorry I didn't get to know Scott.
They are running new stories every day on this subject.
Woodruff's first story was about the effort a wife has put in to get treatment from the VA for her husband's brain injury.

Fresh Air is an NPR radio program hosted by Terri Gross. It's actually pretty good. She interveiwed him and his wife.
Scott had a really bad asthsma attack in a dust storm that came onplaya on the wednesday after the event in 02. So he wasn't hit on the head or something. There was definate changes in mental functioning, but probably from something else than a blow.
It was scarey, scarey, scarey.
Yeah, you're sorry you didn't know Scott, just a sweetie.

If he suffered oxygen deprivation, it could have the same result.
Asthma can be scary.
The Letterman interview was extraordinary.
Bob Woodruff got a good line off with Letterman too.
Bob completely misunderstood one of the questions,
one of those things that happens.
You could see the aphasia at play.
It takes courage to do public speaking like that in recovery.
