Post by jbillea » Sun Mar 04, 2007 2:49 pm

Hey guys this will be my first. I have read the survival guide and still need more info. I currently liven In denver but may be in dallas by then. I hope to meet some new people so that I will know some one when I get there. Give me some idea of what to expect, is it a bad idea to go alone.

No, it isn't a bad idea. However, it might be more fun if you go with someone you know.

Going alone could be an adventure and very rewarding. Depending on what your activities will involve you may want a trusted support group. If you plan on taking substances, even alcohol it could be nice to have a friend to drag you back to camp if you're not always responsible with it. Also if you're female (can't tell from the name) accepting food and drinks from strangers can be a small risk if you don't have a friend with you (not taking food or drink from the same people). It's a different world and most of the people are great. I'd say you could even build a good support group once you're there if you're a good judge of character. But unfortunately there are still some scummy people that are drawn to events of this sort.

Stayed longer than I had planned, out of the back of my truck......

I wish I would have had the courage to go to my first burn alone. If you do decide to go alone you are more than welcome to come by our camp. Good people, leaving our lives behind for one week of utter fun

My partner went to BM on his own the first time. He was "adopted" by some members of a theme camp, and we both joined the camp last year (my first time). You are welcome to stop by Black Rock Diner for a grilled cheese sandwich late at night and some interesting company.

If you live in Denver, then you live in one of the most vibrant BM communities in the country. What's your playa name?

Contact Mile High Club Camp. Good folks, fun times.

here's a link to last year's website, ain't been updated yet, but they're definitely returning.

Also could camp with Camp C.O.C.K. or Astral Headwash

Hope you have a great time!

First timer

Post by TristanX » Sun Mar 25, 2007 7:16 pm

Last year (2006) I went for the first time. I found it helpful to stay with a theme camp -- that way there was always something going on

Also, make sure you tell people when you arrive that you are new. I did and found everyone VERY helpful to newbies.

After 2-3 days you'll fit right in (dirt and all .. lol)
