Electronic Music on the Playa

Post by Djnos » Fri Mar 16, 2007 1:09 pm

Hey all greetings and salutations .. I plan on bringing out my vinyl records (I spin electronica) and mixer as well as turntables and szpeakers and setting all of them up in an enclosed area like a dome or relief tent, although I have heard that the playa might damage all my equipment with it's dusty ways.. can a fellow dj who is also a veteran burner maybe offer some advice on a way to keep my stuff as clean as possible..without ofcourse the remark.."Leave it at home" lol.. see ya'll on the playa...

Keep everything in sealed boxes when not in use.....don't used during a dust storn. Keep they vinyl out of the sun and i've heard that if you keep it packed tight in your case it will help to keep things from warping. Clean your equipment as soon as you get home.

I'd suggest you buy a used mixer (or cheaper new one) for the trek. The dust wreaks havoc on the faders.

there are MANY camps that set-up DJ rigs, there are also MANY, MANY electronica DJ's...maybe check out Artist/Stage threads and find someone/somewhere to gig without hauling your own precious lifeblood system to the Playa - is this your first trip to BRC? Your equipment will *never* be quite the same...

Success! in finding a place to setup shop and spin records and produce, headin down on a yellow school bus, good group of people, solid music, if you hear dubstep and downtempo, breaks, and DnB that's what i'll be spinning in on or around this yellow school bus. Cheers, see you all at home.
