Folk Humor

A sort of "who's on first" routine
arose
from the sound of the word "hoodoo,"
which went like this:

"You remind me of the man."

"What man?"

"The man with the power."

"What power?"

"The power of Hoodoo."

"Hoodoo?"

"You do."

"Do what?"

"You remind me of the man..."

It may have arisen from vaudeville or burlesque
but more likely it's a joke once in common circulation.

The goal of hoodoo is to allow people access
to supernatural forces
to improve their daily lives by gaining power in many areas of life

An amulet characteristic of hoodoo is the mojo,
often called a mojo bag, mojo hand, conjure bag, trick bag, or toby

just after compilations above,
i walked down to the cafe...

man walking across the street made a noise in my direction...

one thing lead to another, and told me to give him all my money...

bullet rendering flesh was his idea of incentive...

ended up dropping all i had surreptitiously
then informing that on occasion i drop things...

though i had to tell him twice before he went back and retreived his prize

when a man becomes a money predator
it speaks volumes on the world we cohabitate...

if it were easter, and i were dropping eggs
would manking be any closer to full potential?

if a man comes to me salivating for the
pittance in tips
i received working behind a bar,
who am i to deny him soo little a boon?...

and yet it cannot help but foster my respect for a community
where the commerce
does not foster such degredation of human spirit

into cogs of an imaginary money machination
